Your Opportunity + Impact
A Platform Engineer, will play a pivotal role in shaping and managing the organization’s end-user technology landscape, driving an exceptional user experience through seamless and efficient technology solutions. This role is essential in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our systems, directly impacting the productivity and satisfaction of end-users across the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing the end-user software suite, operating systems, and the broader IT ecosystem, implementing solutions that elevate operational efficiency and streamline user interactions.
Working closely with System Engineers, the platform engineer will design, build, and maintain a scalable, resilient platform that meets current needs while adapting to future growth. Key responsibilities include software packaging and deployment, comprehensive patch management, and robust operating system maintenance, all aimed at optimizing the company’s ecosystem for peak performance. The engineer will aim to eliminate redundancies and improve system processes, contributing to a high-performing, user-friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities

End-User Software Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of end-user software applications, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user satisfaction.

Ecosystem Management: Monitor and optimize the overall user experience, addressing issues proactively, implementing improvements, and ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow.

Collaboration: Work closely with System Engineers and other IT teams to ensure smooth operations, efficient problem-solving, and knowledge sharing.

Operating System Management: Manage the lifecycle of operating systems, including installations, upgrades, patch management, and security hardening.

Software Packaging and Deployment: Create and maintain software packages, including application installations, configurations, and dependencies. Deploy these packages to end-user devices using automated tools and processes.

Incident Response: Participate in incident response activities, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and impact on users.

Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve response times and overall system efficiency.

Security Best Practices: Adhere to security best practices and implement security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.

Documentation: Create and maintain clear and concise documentation for procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

Capacity Planning: Forecast future needs and plan for capacity expansion to accommodate growth and evolving user requirements.

Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends, and explore opportunities to improve our platform, automate tasks, and enhance the user experience.

Hardware Deployment Lifecycle: Participate in the hardware deployment lifecycle, including imaging, configuration, and deployment of new devices.
Education and Experience

Education: Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field of study required. Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in computer science preferred.

Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in IT related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong technical skills in Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Experience with Microsoft Intune and ConnectWise Automate for software deployment and configuration.

Knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and other Azure services is a plus.

Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) and configuration management tools.

A passion for problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.

A collaborative mindset and a desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team.

Enterprise-level experience in IT Service Desk operations.

Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional project teams within IT.

Expert level understanding of workstation, server, and storage technologies.

Must possess the ability to work both independently and as a part of a Project Team.

Possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to interact with clients, project team, vendors, and other external groups in a professional manner.

Proficient verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task while working independently.
