Arena is a SasS company which is using cutting edge data analytics to solve problems. We are looking for a versatile and experienced Platform Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable infrastructure while ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems.

Job Summary

As a Platform Engineer at Arena, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing our cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, and optimizing performance. You will work with AWS, Docker, Python, Node.js, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and a myriad of other technologies to create and maintain robust and scalable platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable and high-performance infrastructure solutions using AWS services.
• Develop and maintain Docker-based containerized environments to support application deployment and scaling.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of our systems and applications.
• Lead incident response efforts, including diagnosis, resolution, and post-mortem analysis.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for system management and deployment.
• Support and optimize applications and services, ensuring they run efficiently and reliably.
• Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to integrate and deploy new features with a focus on security, reliability and scalability.
• Manage and optimize SQL databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL) for performance and reliability.
• Implement backup and recovery strategies, and perform routine database maintenance tasks.
• Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Analyze performance metrics and tune systems to ensure optimal operation.
• Work closely with the development team to integrate and deploy new features with a focus on reliability and scalability.
• Provide technical support and guidance on security, scalability, and observability best practices for application development and deployment.
• Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure architecture, operational procedures, and best practices.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and applications.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with AWS cloud services and container orchestration using Docker.
• Strong scripting skills for automation and application support (e.g., Go, Python, Bash).
• Experience with database management and optimization for MSSQL and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
• Knowledge of monitoring tools and best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, CodePipeline).
• Familiarity with microservices and event based architecture.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• The expected salary range for this role is $90K/yr - $180/yr based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
