PURPOSE OF JOB/POSITION

  • Principal Platform Engineer is responsible for planning, designing and delivering network solutions around Data Center network technologies and integrating them into into Takeda's overall Cloud and DC network architecture and design
  • Provides subject matter expertise, technical analysis and consultation on the design and implementation of all network services and network technologies.
  • This position is responsible for designing, testing, implementing, and supporting network and DC network infrastructure.

  • Application Performance Monitoring (APM) - Strong understanding of end-to-end application performance monitoring toolset such as Netprofiler, LiveNX, Aternity. Build performance monitoring dashboards to provide proactive monitoring and alerting capabilities for application delivery experience
  • Is recognized within IT and Takeda as the Platform Architecture expert for Design, Development, and Enablement specific to the global LAN/WAN Network, a role which cuts across business and technology domains.
  • Leads the development of the technology platform strategy, drives innovation and adoption of the platform in alignment with the PEP product team, through development of applicable policies, standards, guidelines and reference / enablement materials.
  • Establish and lead the enablement of a global PEP community of practice under the TBD direction and for the benefit of global IT and IT Business Partners.
  • Lead and direct the continuous improvement of PEP related technology capabilities including but not limited to XYZ which align to architecture principles, global IT standards, and security requirements.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead the formulation of PEP related IT Strategy, with a strong focus on Takeda's strategic digital innovation goals by maturing Takeda's patient engagement capabilities.
  • Provide leadership to business service and PEP platform capability roadmaps.
  • Drive PEP adoption, while maintaining design authority to align use cases and regional concerns to an optimized, re-usable platform.
  • Lead and influence the development and maintenance of PEP principles, standards, blueprints, patterns, and reference architectures / implementation which enable improved business outcomes from PEP.
  • Influence and lead project teams, IT engineering and operations teams to solve problems in the overall PEP environment, specific to business use cases.
  • Recognized and seen as key enabler to PEP product owner(s), partnering with IT operations teams to provide excellent, agility-enhancing services from a common global platform.
  • Use in-depth knowledge and experience in Architecture, design, data, system thinking and standards together with Enterprise Leadership and Product Management experience to advise teams on multiple levels.
  • Bring all global instances of patient experience platform under a common management and operations framework while supporting the needs and differences of agile product teams.
  • From time to time, report on the state and direction of Takeda PEP environments to technology and business leaders.


CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE:

  • This role will be the platform architecture leader for PEP for global Takeda, focusing on driving improved business outcomes through a global common platform approach.
  • As a member of the architecture and modernization team, this role will enable and support project teams and business teams in designing optimized solutions which drive reuse, improved efficiencies and remove / reduce Takeda's technical debt.
  • As owner of Takeda's long-term PEP technology roadmap, this individual works with many key stakeholders and helps to drive platform maturity (primarily skills development, process improvement, and tools / technology improvement) and adoption


EXPERTISE

  • Broad IT engineering and architecture background with significant awareness of XYZ;


  • Full-stack breadth of knowledge across the technical domains of architecture (applications, integration, information & data, compute & storage, networking, security, etc.).


  • Considerable depth of business acumen in pharmaceutical industry, primarily in terms of R&D / Clinical Trials and Commerical considerations in the Pharmaceutical industry;


  • Ability to bridge old design patterns with paradigm-shifting architecture patterns in a way that covers all technical domains from integration


SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.


  • 10 + years of experience spanning multiple IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management or operations.


  • Proven track record of designing and implementing complex technical architectures across multiple IT disciplines, including network management and operations.


  • Experience in crafting scalable and resilient architectures that meet business requirements while considering factors such as performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.


  • Experience in designing cloud-native network architectures, leveraging services from leading cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Proficiency in architecting hybrid cloud solutions that seamlessly integrate on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments.


  • Proven Experience in preparing and reviewing HLD/ LLD documentation for Network Designs


  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and architectural diagrams, ensuring clarity and alignment across cross-functional teams.


  • Should have experience in managing the transformation projects


  • Knowledge and Understanding of Global LAN/WAN on-prem Networking


  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining wireless networking solutions using Cisco technologies


  • Experience in Configuring and supporting network equipment including Routers,Switches,Firewalls.


  • Experience on Palo Alto Firewalls configurations and troubleshooting.


  • Understanding of infrastructure as code, modern patterns and site reliability engineering concepts.


  • Ability to work in an agile and rapid changing environment with high quality deliverables.


  • Should have networking experience however no need for hands on and manage the services ensuring ITSM.


  • Strong "soft skills" and communication skills


  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments in a globally distributed organization.


  • Experience working in a life sciences environment and/or familiarity with Takeda strongly preferred


  • Understanding of infrastructure automation concepts and modern architectural patterns, such as microservices, containerization, and serverless computing.


  • Experience in leveraging IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible to provision and manage infrastructure resources programmatically.
