The Opportunity
As a Cloud Platform Architect working on the Foundational Technology Platforms - Infrastructure & Cloud team, you will be empowered to design, develop, and enable the enterprise cloud platform - one application pattern at a time. This role helps build and maintain a platform that supports digital product teams and other value creators in developing solutions on a self-service basis using modern engineering approaches. In this role, you will contribute to Takeda's mission by leading the development and adoption of cloud architectures that align to business needs as well as architecture principles and standards. You will maintain the architecture governance of the entire enterprise cloud platform ecosystem and participate in taking this platform strategy forward.
Responsibilities

  • Engage and drive roadmap for cloud platform architecture in collaboration with other cloud architects, cloud engineering and operations teams
  • Provide guidance and expertise in the platform portfolio of services, complex data ecosystems, big data, high computer clusters, and modern IaaS / PaaS or cloud native deployment models, focusing on well architected principles (cost optimization, resiliency, performance, operational excellence, security)
  • Create and sustain reference architecture patterns, standards, and processes which can be reused to accelerate adoption of cloud native approaches.
  • Enable cloud platform engineering and operational teams as well as application owners / project teams to move application workloads from on-premise to cloud through appropriate architecture review, costs estimation, and guidance processes.
  • Contribute to the production-ready architectural design of Takeda business applications, focusing on IaaS / PaaS designs in alignment with Takeda's cloud policies, standards, guidelines and reference materials.
  • Collaborate with cloud platform and cloud solution architects, influence platform architecture and solution architecture work
  • Drive application workloads to use well architected principles, optimized cloud-native patterns, and non-negotiable guardrails
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of cloud architecture principles, standards, blueprints, patterns, and reference architectures / implementation which enable improved business outcomes from cloud
  • Enable project teams, IT engineering and operations teams to solve problems specific to business applications
  • Use in-dept knowledge and experience with Cloud Architecture, design, data, system thinking and standards to advise product teams on best practices for cloud design.
  • Lead deployments, ensuring security, integrity and alignment, applying modern/innovative deployment and security techniques, including proper key management
  • Work independently on tough problems with other team members and independently solve, with some guidance, very difficult technology problems


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 + years of experience spanning multiple IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
  • Experience as a cloud platform architect or consultant strongly preferred.
  • Good "soft skills" and communication skills
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, OpenShift and VMWare public/private cloud implementations; carries relevant AWS certifications such as AWS DevOps Professional - or able to rapidly certify is a plus
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments in a globally distributed organization.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, security practices and application development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of scripted deployment scripts including Ansible, CloudFormation, and similar Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
  • Strong understanding of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Fargate, OpenShift)
  • Experience working in a life sciences environment and/or familiarity with Takeda strongly preferred
  • Experience working in an agile environment strongly preferred

Salary
As a motivated employee, you should be compensated appropriately. The minimum salary for this position is €3850 per month (full time), but your final remuneration package may be higher depending on your qualifications and experience.
