The Performance team within the Marketing and Reporting Department is responsible for overseeing and managing all standard and customized client performance deliverables; this includes responsibility over performance calculations and performance reporting. The Performance team performs and / or manages critical processes to ensure that portfolio performance information is accurate and distributed in a timely manner. In addition to producing and delivering performance reporting, the team is responsible for producing performance computations, managing composite memberships, generating composite presentations and overseeing the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) verification audits. The individual in this role should have a broad understanding of the asset management industry and a firm grasp on equity, futures, FX, derivatives trading operations, corporate actions, and accounting for investment portfolios.

The individuals on this team work directly with members of various teams, including Business Development / Relationship Management, Legal & Compliance, Investment Analytics, Finance, Fund Operations and Information Technology. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the day to day performance process: Complete portfolio investment performance computations and facilitate the successful completion of related analyses and reporting, including the creation of bespoke ad-hoc reports. Maintain accurate composite data and produce reporting for prospects, consultants and clients. Collaborate with administrators, custodians and middle-office to complete necessary performance reconciliations to official records.
  • Designing critical workflows: Contribute to the design, enhancement and execution of workflow enhancements in order to drive high-quality and efficient processes.
  • Implement new initiatives: Participate in the design and implementation of new tools and processes to enhance existing workflows and / or accommodate new client requests. Identify business requirements for relevant software development needs, coordinate with internal teams and external parties to validate requirements, perform functional testing of automated solutions and implement initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Develop strong working relationships with internal groups in order to add value to our reporting process. Develop strong relationships with external parties such as our outsourced middle-office and relevant custodians and administrators to resolve issues timely.

The ideal candidate will

  • Carry proficiency with performance calculations and composite management, including a strong background of performance inputs and analytics including, security and portfolio characteristics as well as portfolio accounting and valuation.
  • Have direct work experience in the asset management industry with investment advisory, fund administration, or alternative investment experience.
  • Have strong problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to productively collaborate across teams to complete deliverables.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, including working dynamically to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time while seeing each through to resolution.
  • Possess excellent organizational, time management and verbal/written communication skills with a meticulous eye towards detail.
  • Proactively suggest improvements or additions to existing processes/procedures.
  • Be an analytical and structured thinker, with a keen interest in understanding how things work.
  • Possess strong data management skills, including, proficiency with Microsoft Excel (SQL or Python is a plus), with the demonstrated ability to work with large volumes of data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is a requirement; Accounting or Finance concentration preferred.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience in the asset management industry; experience must include direct experience with performance calculations and related analysis.
  • A CFA or CIPM designation or progress towards is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with large volumes of data and data quality reviews.
  • SQL and Python Experience is a plus.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with business and IT teams and be able to clearly articulate data problems and resolutions.
  • Analytical and structured thinking with a keen interest in understanding how things work.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
