Full Time Flex 36 Hrs. Bi-Weekly, Day/Eve Monday -Friday - 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7A-1930 per departmental needs.
Primary Location: Newark, with rotation to Wilmington per department needs.

Primary function:
The Patient Care Technician II (PCT II) position carries a dual role with daily tasks covering both clerical responsibilities and nursing. When in the clerical role, the primary function is to promote proactive administrative services such as that of a receptionist, registrar, data entry clerk, and liaison to outside agencies to facilitate effective patient care. The PCT II supports activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. The PCT will demonstrate the skills and knowledge vital to deliver care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Job duties include, but not limited to, performing and accurately recording vital signs, Accu-checks, toileting, and mobilizing patients. PCTs are a crucial part of the nursing care team with an expectation to support the organizations patient safety goals and initiatives.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge vital to deliver care appropriate to patients in various stages of development.
- Performs assigned nursing duties for the comfort and well-being of patients.
- Responds to patient crisis situation and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities and notifies RN.
- Performs defined procedures on point of care instrumentation.
- Responds with promptness, compassion and interest to needs of patients.
- Communicates to patients, employees, and physicians applying courteous verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates proficiency using required digital literacy including order entry, admission, discharge and transfer procedures, and ordering of tests.
- Maintains charts according to CCHS guidelines, coordinates maintenance of unit supplies (e.g., storeroom, central, maintenance, etc.).
- Use accurate documentation, writes legibly, signs transcribed orders and records appropriate data, etc.
- Performs other related duties as the need arises.
- Completes mandatory in service education.
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of imaging supported software, including but not limited to Power Chart, Sorian, and other Cerner products

Nurse Manager. Receives direction from RN.
Education and experience requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Previous patient care experience including taking vital signs.
2 years clerical or related experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of basic nursing care provided for specific patient population of unit.
Knowledge of department standards, selected procedures, nursing practice guidelines and procedures.
Ability to acquire information to identify patient needs and to deliver care as needed.
Ability to work quickly and thoroughly
Ability to recognize changes in patient status, take appropriate action and advise RN
Ability to communicate optimally applying verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform basic math skills.
Ability to use appropriate safety measures for patients, employees and self.
Ability to follow universal precautions at all times.
Ability to exercise judgment, tact and diplomacy.
Ability to respond to patient crisis situations under the direction of the RN, following CCHS protocol
Ability to demonstrate proficiency in basic digital literacy
Ability to use imaging supported software, including but not limited to Power Chart, Sorian, and other Cerner products.
Special requirements:
American Heart Association/American Red Cross BLS Certification required.
Physical demands:
Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, climb as per unit based Physical Demand Checklist.
Working conditions:
Frequent exposure to biological elements with occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements, as per unit based Physical Demands Checklist.
