Ingredion is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to enhance our payroll team. The Payroll Team provides support to the America’s based businesses in the areas of payroll processing & controls, payroll related reporting, Audit Support and Payroll analytics. This vital role will report directly to the Payroll Manager and will lead 6 team members directly.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and provide backup coverage for the payroll processing for a weekly, biweekly, and monthly union and non-union payrolls to ensure the accuracy of the withholdings and deductions associated with taxes, benefits, garnishments, support orders, and items defined in the union collective bargaining agreements (CBAs)
- Leads all required payroll processing activities as assigned and deadlines including delegation of work to team as needed
- Acts as primary client contact with focus on maintaining and improving overall customer satisfaction
- Identifies issues that impact customer satisfaction. Identifies and solicits opportunities for improvement.
- Lead daily activities of the team to ensure that all work is completed according to scheduled deadlines with attention to quality standards, priorities and overall goals
- Enhanced understanding and implementation of HR Total Rewards projects. Oversee the use of standard process workflows by team.
- Function as a consultant and business partner to other groups across Ingredion as required
- Train and mentor team members and identify development needs across the team
- Track various productivity and performance standards to ensure that established levels are achieved, especially during critical activity periods
- Serve as an acting backup to the Payroll Manager, providing leadership, guidance and direction to team members in the absence of the manager
- Supervise escalated issues and provide direction and ensure timely resolution
- Evaluate associates on performance and complete annual performance appraisals.
- Work in collaboration with team members to establish Individual Development Plans.
- Develop and administer corrective action and performance improvement plans.
- Oversight of workforce supervision to include scheduling, and succession planning.
- Participate in task forces, strategic initiatives, stretch assignments and collaboration opportunities with other functions
- Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance
- Ensure that Month-end and year-end close activities are complete accurately and timely
- Analyze payroll process data to identify trends and team performance measures and communicate to leadership potential improvements as necessary
- Enforce and maintain SOX & RACM compliance for policies and procedures
- Continually implement enhancements to further improve and streamline processes, including proper testing and communication to management
- Support Manager as needed
- Collaborate with Key Business Partners and report on monthly performance
- Other Duties as assigned
Requirements:
- University degree in Accounting or related field
- 7+ years payroll experience with 4 years leading payroll/tax activities
- Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures of payroll
- Proven skill in promoting harmonious working relationships in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of work performance, follow through on assignments, and anticipate, identify, and analyze problems and resolve or recommend course of action for resolution as appropriate.
- Proven ability to independently analyze complex problems, research complex issues, draw appropriate conclusions, and develop and implement innovative solutions
- Highly organized individual with a high degree of attention to details
- Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel (advanced)
- Presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate, update, persuade and facilitate discussions with all levels of management
- Planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate the workload around multiple assignments
- Continuous improvement attitude to seek out and implement best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Concur Travel and Expense
- Current or prior management and training experience
- Experience in expense reimbursement
