The Payroll Accountant will primarily be assisting with the daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll tax payment and reporting process. Other responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities:
- Bank reconciliations for various Werner bank accounts
- Assisting with recording escheatment checks to the general ledger for proper tracking
- Assisting with recording monthly tax payment activity to the general ledger
- Weekly/monthly reporting of tractor statistics
- Monthly reporting of Driver Turnover
- Tracking various non-cash taxable fringe benefits for inclusion as reportable wages.
- Assisting with weekly self-funded Health and Dental Claims reimbursements
- Reconciling various general ledger accounts associated with payroll tax liabilities.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, in a related field of study or equivalent experience.
- One to two years of accounting/financial reporting experience preferred.
- One to two years PC (Windows preferred) and spreadsheet (Excel) experience preferred.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and self review skills with the ability to be detail oriented and have a strong sense of accuracy.
- Skill in working with a personal computer, including large spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting procedures.
