Purpose of the role

To manage a specific product or portfolio and set the strategic direction. Provide support to the bank's senior management team, and to manage product development risk across the organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Development of strategic direction for a specific product or portfolio, including the implementation of up to date methodologies and processes.
  • Management of a specific product or portfolio, including oversight of colleagues and their performance, implementation of departmental goals and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of specific product or portfolio stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third party services.
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures for the specific product or portfolio.
  • Management of specific product or portfolio risk, including identification of potential risks, development of strategies to mitigate those risks, and maintenance of alignment between the bank’s specific product or portfolio and compliance functions.
  • Monitoring the financial performance of the specific product or portfolio, including revenue, profitability, and cost control.
  • Conducting thorough market research to understand market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to identify market opportunities.

Join our Barclays Payments Acquiring team as a Payment Product Associate, part of Barclaycard's leading transaction banking division, driving cutting-edge payment solutions for clients ranging from small businesses to multinational retailers. Our Product team manages the full spectrum of acquiring services, ensuring fast, secure, and seamless payment experiences across multiple currencies. You will support the drive the development and performance of key products within our portfolio. Your role will include assisting with product strategy, overseeing end-to-end issue management, and ensuring competitive positioning. You will support cross-functional teams, manage supplier relationships, and contribute to the strategic product roadmap. Additionally, you will deliver consultative insights to stakeholders, championing innovation in our product offerings.

Essential skills:

  • Ability to drive a high performance through collaboration with multifunctional teams and a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficient understanding of how to produce a product / marketing plan, and business case.
  • Ability to deliver high quality work whilst working in a fast moving sometimes pressured environment.
  • Self motivated with a confident approach.
  • Broad knowledge of appropriate product(s) relevant to role, be that card payments, acquiring etc.

This role can be based in London or Northampton.
