Legal support to Group Counsel and associated Advice and Wealth Management business partners. Assist in completing legal transactions, including executing franchise registration, government filing and business processes, and responding to related questions; researching laws related to business; supporting resolution of advisor-related client and compensation issues, supervision and discipline, dispute resolution, and recruiting; and drafting related correspondence and identifying solutions to business requests. Collaborate across the General Counsel's Organization (GCO) and business to perform various tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to attorneys on various matters that require knowledge of law. Gather and/or track data for filings and registrations. Send internal communications and requests for information needed in order to move forward on tasks or projects on behalf of the legal department.
- Conduct research, perform analysis, and/or interpret legal, regulatory requirements, or industry practices relevant to a particular business legal issue or concern. Compile and communicate results or recommendations to appropriate parties.
- Draft memos, contractual agreements, and respond to inquiries. Formulate client communications, client disclosures, client account agreements, product or service offerings, employment law concerns, or other matters, depending on the area of legal specialization assigned.
- Track data and maintain databases. Maintain filing systems for legal documents and ensure compliance with record retention guidelines. Respond to requests for legal documents that have been archived.
- Provide advice on potential legal and regulatory issues relating to topics or initiatives such as new products/services and changes to current products and services.
- Support Legal Department by preparing initial drafts of correspondence, information requests, presentation materials and other legal documents.
- Provide consultation to business partners on legal matters under attorney supervision.
- Gather, organize, summarize, and index documents for various sources for upcoming, pending, or potential legal issues.
- Management of legal document execution, delivery, tracking, and filing.
- Coordination and maintenance of legal billing matters in Legal Tracker system.
- Research law sources by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes.
- Work on special projects and project teams, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent (2 years)
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
- Paralegal Certificate from approved American Bar Association program or equivalent experience.
- Detail oriented.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical skills.
- Research skills.
- Relevant industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Ability to learn and utilize new tools and technologies.
- Familiarity with the federal electronic filing system, E-FILE.
