Job Responsibilities:
Job Profile: The Paint Technician is responsible to ensure quality of products. Trouble shooting when issues with application and robots occur. Systematic control of robot spray patterns, and interfaces with Engineering, Application team, Production and Maintenance to optimize yields.
Location: Polycon Industries, Guelph ON
Shift: Afternoons
QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB:

  • Two year Automation and Robotics certificate required.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of related work experience with automated spray equipment and robots required
  • Requires knowledge of paint materials, paint delivery systems, mechanical equipment, and down draft paint applications
  • Excellent communication skills (English - spoken and written)
  • Proven critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Must have demonstrated good work habits for a period of not less than six months in present job


MAIN DUTIES:

  • Trouble shoots and maintains paint machinery and equipment, including calibration of bell applicators
  • Implements preventative maintenance as required
  • Observes & supports production line robots, and relays observation to application team
  • Reviews robot movement and paint delivery parameters to improve painted part quality and paint consumption
  • Conducts root cause analysis and supports the paint application team in making improvements to paint quality
  • Resets robotic failures, KV, Flow & Limits (documents all failures)
  • Ensures long term improvements to yield, customer concerns, warranty concerns & related costs
  • Reviews production pareto for application defects & equipment downtime issues
  • Works with maintenance on spray equipment, robot control problems and continuous improvements
  • Tests and evaluates new products and equipment
  • Participates in production, yield and utilization meetings
  • Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful, and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
