Job Summary:
A packaging engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and managing the packaging of products. This role ensures that products are packaged efficiently, safely, and in a way that meets both regulatory standards and consumer expectations.
Job Responsibilities:
- New Product Development
- Manage Pack standards
- Help support approval of color and defect range boards
- Identify the relevant test methods and conduct Packaging lab testing, data validations and reporting
- Packaging support (fixture design/test method harmonization)
- Perform BOM (Bill of Materials) creation/changes for new/existing products (artwork, material change, new pack out)
- Issue FG specification updates to reflect palletization
- Revise and/or issue new component specifications to suppliers
- Tertiary development (Packer/shippers) to support other engineers
- Analysis of Engineering prints for components
- Write detailed specifications for components (primary, secondary, and tertiary) and finished goods
- Determine package tests for new components or Finished Goods
- Attend line trials and Finished Good production start-ups as needed
- Drive projects with full ownership, and hold accountability on team members to ensure all steps of the timeline are met
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Packaging Engineering or Related Field: A bachelor's degree in packaging engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field is typically required. 2. Experience with Beauty Industry Standards: Familiarity with the specific requirements and standards of packaging for beauty products, including regulations, safety standards, and sustainability practices.
- Design and CAD Skills: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD programs for creating and modifying packaging designs.
- Material Knowledge: Understanding of various packaging materials (plastics, glass, metal, paper, etc.) and their properties, as well as knowledge of innovative and sustainable materials.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage projects from conception to completion, including working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and suppliers to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
