Successful candidate will become the SME for MES systems in 5 locations.  As SME they will be looked to for assistance in Troubleshooting, Standardization, Definition, Improvement, and Operating Procedures for these systems and data.  Equipment utilized in this process include PLCs, Windows Servers, Virtual Machines, and Micro PCs. Software utilized include Allen Bradley programming software, SQL, AVEVA System Platform with MES/QMS/Historian, SQL Server Reporting Services, PowerBI, and iDashboard.

Will be critical in the design, deploy, standardization, improvement, and troubleshooting of multiple SSRS reports and PowerBI dashboards.  The successful candidate will develop strengths in understanding how data relates, can be managed through Views and Stored Procedures, and checking data integrity.  Must be comfortable making decisions for design improvements, system upgrades, and infrastructure definition and work with other engineers to drive to an efficient and effective automated data environment through implementation, improvement, and developing new processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and drive AVEVA System Platform MES/QMS/Historian design and specification towards a standardized platform while improving, mistake proofing, and upgrading
  • Understand PLC based integration, communication, and control to implement, improve, and troubleshoot Data Automation
  • Understand SQL tables, views, and Stored Procedures to compile, analyze, and present information to varying audiences
  • Design/direct/manage MES projects to include capital budget development, maintenance, and tracking
  • Coordination and checking of engineering deliverables, includes creating project engineering schedules and forecasts; Monthly project status reports and change orders
  • Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project clients or plants
  • Build, deploy, and improve SSRS reports, Power BI dashboards, and iDashboard projects
  • Work closely with 3rd Party programmers and developers for system improvements, troubleshooting, and upgrades
  • Have basic knowledge of Servers, Virtual Machines, Window Server OS, and networking
  • Using management skills, establish relationships with vendors to keep Shop Floor and MES updated and current with latest technology and improvements
  • Prepare data analytics as needed to understand process stability, opportunity for improvement, and lessons learned
  • Develop programs and plans for long range data needs of plants in line with corporate requirements and needs
  • Create presentations as needed or assigned to properly communicate process data/information
  • Develop documentation to include Operating Procedures and Troubleshooting Guides with respect to MES
  • Train plant management and personnel on new MES features
  • Define and drive data automation from ERP down to Shop Floor and out in Reports and Dashboards
  • Assist R&D efforts to implement new processes with supporting data into production for improvements and/or competitive advantage
  • Participate in corporate business unit (as applicable) and plant efforts to maintain safe and orderly work environments. Work with plant (or across business unit as appropriate) to foster and develop teamwork in our efforts to be productive and competitive
  • Assist plants and vendors with equipment data improvements and system integrations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering or related discipline
  • Project Management, process technology/engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Knowledge of SQL, SSRS, PowerBi, preferred
  • Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming including AB RSLogixs and Wonderware software preferred
  • Five to eight years experience in engineering discipline in corporate and plant settings with a solid, demonstrated record of achievement
    • Relevant plant operations or technical experience will also be considered
    • Experience in plastics manufacturing preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects, managing time and prioritize work accordingly
  • Proficiency with personal computers, including Microsoft Suite
  • Automation knowledge and experience highly desired
  • Heavy travel required 25%+
