Job Purpose
You will be instrumental in the software development and ongoing enhancement of all devices within the plant. Your key responsibilities will include programming PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, and vision systems, as well as integrating these systems into the Integram Windsor Seating MES system. Beyond software development, you will also contribute to the creation of programming and hardware standards for the team and drive continuous improvement of our systems.
Duties and responsibilities - Job Specific
A) Design and develop code and electrical hardware for automation equipment and software applications, including PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, and vision systems.
B) Offer expertise and guidance to the engineering team throughout the entire lifecycle of all equipment to ensure adherence to functional, hardware, and software requirements.
C) Develop and uphold hardware and programming standards for the facility, including assisting the engineering team in selecting, testing, and integrating hardware such as robots, motion controllers, sensors, and vision systems.
D) Deliver technical problem-solving support and training to the maintenance and engineering teams.
E) Conduct comprehensive testing of machine functionality to ensure the integrity and compliance of the system with IWS specifications.
F) Travel to supplier and sister facilities for validation, commissioning, and training purposes.
G) Work closely with vendors, engineers, IT staff, mechanics, and electricians on the shop floor to develop and maintain comprehensive and effective automation systems.
H) Design and modify HMI screens for controls system as needed to accommodate production changes
I) Program, troubleshoot and improve error proofing checks using Keyence Vision System Software.
J) Design, Deploy and maintain PLC-SQL reports using a custom Visual Basic Application.
K) Maintain accurate documentation for each project including operator manuals, training content, program backups, electrical, and mechanical schematics.
L) Evaluate performance of existing systems to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
M) Use plant CMMS software (E-Maint) for assigning Work Orders and sourcing crib parts.
N) The nature of the role requires availability during scheduled shifts and off shifts in the event of any issues.
Duties and responsibilities - Standards
A) Achieve departmental KOI's as set by the Department Manager.
B) Follow all guidelines in accordance with the latest revision ISO-14001, ISO9000, IATF 16949 , Customer Specific Requirements & CCC Requirements .
C) Maintain safety and housekeeping at all times.
D) Other duties as assigned.
Safety, Health and Environmental Responsibilities - Standards
A) Ensure that Health and Safety and Environmental standards are adhered to in accordance to the Magna Charter and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
B) As required participate in plant safety, health and environmental programs.
Qualifications
A) Experience with industrial robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and vision systems.
B) Intermediate skill level with Local Area Networks, SQL database, SQL Services Reporting System, VBA programming, Rockwell/AB controls and FactoryTalk View HMIs
C) A background in debugging, testing, and solving programming, mechanical, and electrical problems.
D) Ability to read and understand CAD / Electrical drawings.
E) A bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or comparable) is preferred.
F) Intermediate skill level with Cognex/Keyence vision systems is preferred.
G) Portfolio showcasing projects where significant contributions were made is preferred.
H) Experience with ABB, Fanuc, or UR Robotics are preferred.
