Operational Risk Manager - 12 month opportunity
Do work that matters:
Risk Management (RM) is responsible for developing and communicating CBA’s risk management frameworks to allow CBA to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within the approved risk appetite. RM has policy teams that specialise in the different risk types as well as business unit risk teams to provide oversight. These areas collaborate with each other and specific areas within CBA to implement the Risk Management frameworks.
The Operational Risk & Compliance - Group Support Units (GSU) team provides independent review and challenge of Operational Risk and Compliance activities within the Group’s Support Units - Human Resources, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Legal and Group Secretariat, Financial Services, Group Strategy and Risk Management Support Units.
See yourself in the team:
As a Risk Manager, you will support the Senior Manager and Executive Manager to embed and monitor adherence with the Operational and Compliance Risk Management Frameworks (ORMF and CRMF). Your main focus will be to support operational risk and assurance activities across GSF, working with Line 1 and other Line 2 risk teams to ensure there is adequate implementation, management and oversight over the Group’s Frameworks.
Your day could look like but not limited to:
- Supporting operational and compliance risk management activities such as assessment of risks, controls, issues and incidents, with a focus on providing relevant insights linked to key business initiatives and key risks;
- Having a pragmatic approach and exercising judgment to ensure compliance with the ORMF and CRMF while maximising the benefit for the business and customers;
- Providing a ‘bigger picture’ as to how risk activities support the business in achieving its strategy;
- Applying industry and business knowledge to proactively identify and pursue meaningful risk activity;
- Performing ‘deep dives’ and other reviews to provide assurance and an independent Line 2 opinion on risk and compliance management;
- Reporting on risk exposures in the preparation of reporting for Non-Financial Risk Committees or other risk reporting as needed;
- Building strong working relationships with Group functions, Line 1 risk and business stakeholders.
What successful candidates will look like?
