What will you do as an Operational Buyer?
As an Operational Buyer, you will plan, purchase, and order goods, services, and other expenses for the company (e.g., machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts, supplies and services) in accordance with the purchasing policy and contracts. You will ensure the availability of specified goods and services according to the functional, budgetary and planning requirements of the internal client/budget holder.

What do we expect from you as an Operational Buyer?

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

3-5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in an industrial setting.

Practical experience in purchasing, negotiation and basic knowledge of contract law.

Strong competencies in negotiation, persuasion, influence, collaboration and partnership.

Knowledge of purchase order management.

Ability to develop and manage contracts and manage suppliers (prequalification, evaluation, development).

Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to management.

Knowledge of audit processes and continuous process improvement.

What does your day look like?
As an Operational Buyer, you will assist the Procurement Manager in spend and contract analysis, category reviews, and developing actions for the annual Purchasing Plan and budget. Your tasks will include requesting quotes from suppliers, negotiating prices and terms, and managing the purchase order process. You will oversee the full purchasing cycle—requisition, approval, order, dispatch, and receipt—ensuring timely delivery and using the ERP system (Oracle) effectively.
Your core responsibilities are:

Execute all purchases for the assigned terminal(s) in compliance with purchasing procedures, policies, and operational excellence standards.

Lead the supplier and contractor selection process, including conducting internal and market analyses, defining selection criteria, evaluating supplier prequalification (RFI), and managing requests for quotes or proposals (RFP). This also involves conducting clarification meetings, liaising with bidders, and collaborating with internal stakeholders.

In collaboration with the Procurement Manager, ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of key contracts. This includes facilitating visibility and accessibility of contracts, ensuring proper usage in line with purchasing policies, and continuously improving contract management with internal clients.

Develop and enhance the supplier base with the Procurement Manager and internal clients through regular monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of supplier performance as part of the Supplier Management Program. This includes tiering suppliers, measuring performance of critical suppliers, participating in evaluation meetings, and executing improvement initiatives.

Continuously monitor, analyze, and measure processes and performance by evaluating local and global indicators.
