Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, process improvement, and software development to provide operationally-focused engineering solutions for space enterprise C3 systems, missions, and processes and to deliver systems engineering support for missions and responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers.
Focusing on the applications of these technologies, the Command, Control, and Communications (C3) Engineering & Operations Department (CEOD) staff provide operationally-focused engineering solutions for space enterprise C3 systems, missions, and processes in support of these customers. We deliver systems engineering support for missions and C2 system development; lead system and software test planning and execution campaigns; support ground system and architecture improvement efforts; influence future electronic warfare, space data transport (SDT), command and control (C2), and missile warning investments; provide operational C2 expertise for future systems; and, provide technical and operational experience with fielded space systems and real missions. Work Model
This is a full-time position based in Colorado Springs, Co offering a hybrid work model that combines 3-4 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing C2 planning and course of action (COA) development expertise in accordance with current Joint Warfighting Concept, Adaptive Planning, and Joint Targeting processes.
  • Advising customers on operationally-focused technical and analytical approaches, systems engineering, and development of systems and capabilities.
  • Reviewing requirements, models, and algorithms to develop integration architectures and recommend technical and operational needs for Ops Centers' processes.
  • Designing and advocating for optimized C2 constructs and data processes for US Space Command and US Space Force capabilities.
  • Supporting rapid prototyping strategies aligned to the CSO priorities by providing technical, operational, and risk assessments.
  • Working across space mission and program boundaries to identify common program challenges and risks, provide enterprise recommendations, and lead issues to closure.
  • Serving as a C2 and/or space operations subject matter expert on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Serving as a key technical contributor on space prototype/system readiness review teams and provide impartial technical assessments to decision authorities.
  • Solving the customers' hardest problems in the development, fielding, planning, integration, and operational employment of new space capabilities.
  • Working closely and effectively with internal and external partners in integrated product teams that include government, industry, FFRDC members, and collaboration across Aerospace.
  • Communicating effectively with customers and management through timely reporting of technical issues, analysis reports, and recommendation


What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Engineering Specialist

  • Bachelors degree in STEM or related technical discipline
  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible and related career experience to include background as a space operator and/or planner.
  • Experience in space-relevant command and control, operational planning, or battle management.
  • Experience with operating or developing BMC2 systems (ie command and control functions, tactical information, missile defense, communication protocols, etc)
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with systems that integrate data, provide situational awareness and support decision for military operations
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, and interact effective with a broad range of organizations.
  • Experience working with government customers like US Space Command, US Space Force, and/or the NRO.
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically (approx. 20%) if required.
  • This position requires Active Top Secret security clearance; which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. (SAP eligible)


In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Engineering Specialist include:

  • 12 or more years of experience of relevant career experience.
  • Demonstrated blend of operational, technical, and leadership experience.


How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in STEM
  • Weapons School graduate.
  • Joint Planning experience with a Combatant Command J3/5 or Joint Staff J3/5.
  • Experience in a different domain besides space (e.g., ground, maritime, air).
  • Experience with different mission areas like electronic warfare (EW); orbital warfare (OW); space domain awareness (SDA); intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR); command and control (C2); satellite communications (SATCOM) or space data transport; position, navigation, and timing (PNT); and, missile warning missile tracking (MW/MT).
  • Experience with digital engineering and/or agile approaches to analysis and development activities.
  • Experience with Ops Research Systems Analysis (ORSA).Experience in operational and tactical level processes.
  • Knowledge of man-made threats to space systems.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI access and/or SAP/SAR access.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
