What would you be doing at Woodard & Curran?
Woodard & Curran is growing, and we are looking for a qualified O&M Technician near Groveland, Florida! If you enjoy working outdoors protecting nature’s precious resource, water, then this position is for you. The O&M Technician will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the F.O.G. Fats Oils and Grease receiving unit “Greasezilla”. Candidates must utilize mechanical/pumping equipment repair skills and have experience with electrical systems to provide maintenance and repair as needed to the unit and facility. In addition, the technician will be required to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed. The F.O.G. receiving unit utilizes a Screening mechanism, Equalization tanks, and Boiler System to treat all waste that comes into the facility. The technician must have a good understanding of how to operate and maintain a mechanical unit that processes F.O.G. utilizing decanting techniques and a boiler system that utilizes high heat for grease separation. Typical responsibilities include:
- Participates in the daily operations and maintenance of the Grease receiving unit “Greasezilla” as directed by the Lead Operator.
- Operates and maintains all components of the unit.
- Performs preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance of all the unit equipment may include repairs and troubleshooting.
- Daily inspection of the operating site.
- Proficient customer service skills to accommodate haulers and answer any questions they may have as well as direct the daily operation of the site.
- Performs data entry and report generation, including data for preparing the Monthly Operating Report.
- Coordinates to ensure that other plant employees and visiting contractors/haulers follow established administrative, safety, and operating policies.
- Monitors and controls assigned tasks to ensure cost-effective service to meet the budget.
- Communicate directly with all parties involved with the operation of the Greasezilla including but not limited to Project staff, City staff, leadership, haulers, vendors, and manufacturers.
Schedule:
- Part time - 12-15 hours per week, Monday thru Friday from 5:00am - 8:30am. Vacation coverage hours are available when full-time staff are off.
What would you need to succeed?
- Florida Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License preferred, or the ability to obtain through the operator’s exam or reciprocity.
- 1-3 years’ experience in a wastewater treatment facility, operation, and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education.
- Mechanical and technical experience is preferred.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures.
- High School or trade school diploma is required,
- A valid Florida motor vehicle operator's license.
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in wastewater treatment work.
- OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety certification a plus.
- Knowledge of computer applications Microsoft office applications.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings, and specifications for work assigned.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
