Job Overview
PerkinElmer is looking for a motivated, experienced sales professional to accelerate the growth of our Perten and Delta laboratory instrumentation, which tests quality and performance in the Food Industry. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to drive sales growth by hunting for new customers and nurturing existing customers.
Our Team
The Food Sales Team represents PerkinElmer’s portfolio of instrumentation including near-infrared, process NIR, and rheology, calling on human and pet food processors and manufacturers. The ideal candidate will manage a territory that includes travel throughout the region, serving our customer base, and bringing significant growth by prospecting and penetrating new accounts. We are asking that the individual be highly motivated, have a team mentality for achievement, and have a willingness to learn new methods and technologies. Ideally, the candidate will have at least three years of sales experience of capital equipment to food customers and the motivation to succeed.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop a strong, working technical knowledge of the portfolio of products serving food markets.
- Develop, implement, and execute a strategic business plan to grow PerkinElmer’s revenue in food testing capital equipment in the assigned territory.
- Responsible for all aspects of territory management, including prospecting, establishing, and maintaining relationships in food processors and food testing accounts, and closing deals with new and existing customers.
- Conduct effective seminars and presentations.
- Manage and maintain a healthy funnel of opportunities, provide accurate forecasts, and successfully convert the funnel to revenue to meet the territory sales quota.
- Demonstrate strong initiative and willingness to take ownership of results.
- This position requires a willingness to travel, and 50% will be overnight.
- You must also possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- While this covers a vast territory (ME,MA,VT,NH,CT,DE,RI,NY,PA,NJ,MD,DC,VA,WV) , the ideal candidate would be located in the Delaware Valley area of PA,DE,NY,MD,NJ metro area.
- Candidate must have a hunter mentality to develop new accounts.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years capital sales experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of sales experience in the food testing industry.
- Proven ability to carry and deliver a sales quota over $2M annually.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships at a high level within large strategic accounts.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated and energetic with a results-focused approach to achieving daily goals/activities.
- Aptitude to learn new systems and retain technical information.
Critical Skills
- Excellent customer service skills complimented by an ability to listen to and interpret client requests.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time.
- Frequently require regular bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching to perform in a service function.
- Regularly move or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include, without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to perform the essential service functions of this position.
The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $86k to $120k. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
