Job Description
Norco is currently seeking an individual to fill our NorLab Operations Manager position. The NorLab Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of NorLab operational quality and production activities, as applicable related to specialty gas filling, shipping, distribution, and equipment maintenance. Responsible for the effective utilization of cylinder and equipment assets and available resources. Role involves comprehensive operational direction, quality management, and regulatory compliance. Decision making includes prioritizing based on previous experience and specialized technical expertise. Impact to organization includes potential for significant regulatory, operational, legal, reputational and safety implications. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assure timely and accurate communication with Sales/Customer Service and Laboratory staff regarding current order status, lead times for product inquiries, product availability and other technical matters
- Identify operational efficiencies in gas operations and implementing change initiatives to improve productivity and control costs
- Ensure regulatory compliance, excellent maintenance procedures and a safe and efficient operation of filling processes
- Direct all training surrounding company policies and applicable FDA, OSHA, DOT, ISO and/or other applicable accreditation and regulatory bodies
- Hire, discipline, and terminate staff as needed. Coordinate staffing schedules, track employee attendance, punctuality, and vacation time.
- Control inventories of raw materials to meet sales demands
- Assist in new product development
- Regularly report status of key performance measurements
- Plan and request budget approval of departmental expenditures
- Follow Safe work practices in performance of all duties and follow the company’s safety policies daily
- Stay informed of and adhere to company policies and procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary
Qualifications
- Five years’ experience in a production or related environment
- Supervisory experience beneficial
- Ability to adapt to and manage changing priorities
- Ability to make decisions using good judgement
- Ability to effectively manage staff
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to understand and apply basic/advanced technical concepts
- Ability to work in frequently high stress situations
- Effective time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of cylinders and gases
- Working knowledge of TIMS database preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Forklift certification or ability to certify within 3 months.
