Investopedia is a leading financial information website that empowers readers to make informed decisions about their finances. We are seeking a News Writer to join our dynamic news team. In this role, you will focus on writing timely and engaging stories on a range of financial subjects, helping our audience navigate their financial lives with confidence.

As a News Writer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality content that educates and informs readers on the latest developments in corporate and markets news, investing and personal finance. You’ll craft concise, insightful articles that attract attention and provide actionable takeaways for readers looking to improve their financial well-being.

This is a perfect opportunity for a detail-oriented journalist who can blend reporting skills with a deep understanding of money and personal finance. If you enjoy simplifying complex topics and making finance accessible for all, we want to hear from you.

This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

II. Essential Job Functions

  • Timely Reporting: Cover breaking news, trends, and relevant events in personal finance with speed and accuracy.

  • Engaging Writing: Produce clear, concise, and compelling news articles that meet Investopedia’s standards and speak directly to the needs of our diverse audience.

  • Research and Analysis: Analyze financial reports, data releases, and economic indicators to produce content with insights that help readers make informed decisions.

  • Content Optimization: Write headlines, subheads, and story structures that increase article visibility and engagement.

  • Collaborate: Work closely with other editors and writers to identify trending topics, and provide fresh angles on personal finance news.

  • Consistency: Regularly contribute articles that align with the editorial strategy and maintain Investopedia’s voice and tone.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

  • Experience: 2+ years of journalism experience, preferably covering personal finance or business topics. Strong understanding of financial concepts is required.

  • Writing Skills: Proven ability to write engaging, digestible, and accurate news articles under tight deadlines.

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret complex financial information and present it in a way that’s easy to understand for a broad audience.

  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, finance, or a related field.

  • Initiative: Self-starter who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and proactive in seeking out newsworthy stories and trends.
