L.L. Bean Inc. located in Freeport Maine is looking for a Network Services Manager, someone that is passionate about technology and has proven leadership experience in networking and security disciplines.
This position will be accountable for the direction, operations, and results of the network team, which encompasses 3 primary functions: networking (route/switch), network security (firewalls), and systems management (observability).
Responsibilities
Leadership (50%):
-
Provide people leadership and mentorship to a group of system engineers at various career levels. Responsible for creating development plans for each engineer and tracking progress towards goals.

Partner with cybersecurity and business areas to ensure strong alignment in the delivery of network solutions leveraging a ‘security is built-in’ approach.

Identify people, process, and technology gaps across infrastructure teams. Recommend and evaluate potential solutions.
-
This will be a visible role and will require the ability to work at all levels of the organization.
-
Ability to prioritize and effectively manage workloads amongst team members.
-
Contributes to the development of cost center budgets. Manages to budget & re-projects as needed.

Prepares, delivers and leads technical presentations that bring about effective decision-making.
Strategic (10%):
-
Key contributor to the annual technology roadmap process identifying and budgeting for technology solutions over a 5-year horizon.

Translate business requirements and architectural directions into program/project deliverables and establish architectural guardrails for projects.

Responsible for defining technical sections of RFP, evaluating RFP responses, and searching for solutions that fit within our desired architecture.

Must have experience in managing vendor relationships.

Can take multiple viewpoints into consideration (such as Business, Technical, and pragmatic approaches).

Partner with architecture and business teams to develop and drive strategic initiatives.
Technical (10%):
-
Fundamental understanding of core network and security concepts. For example, OSI model and how it applies the day-to-day work. Security frameworks (NIST, MITRE, etc.)

Ability to leverage teams to drive technical decisions without being the subject matter expert.

A Passion and curiosity for technology.
Operational (30%):
-
Comfortable being the escalation point for critical network problems in a 24/7 environment.

Facilitate problem management bridges for respective domains.

Partner with technical operations teams that handle first call resolution and escalation.

Coordinate various team meetings to efficiently manage the work streams.

Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and escalations as required.
Years of Experience: 5+ years
Skills & Qualifications:

5-7 years IT experience; 2 or more years managerial or supervisory experience leading a technical/analytical team or department

BA/BS or equivalent required; IT focus preferable

Broad understanding of enterprise architecture

Technical experience in one or more technology domains.

One or more Leaders may report to this position.

Has experience managing & re-projecting budgets and has proven results in cost containment efforts.

Ability to build cross-functional collaborative relationships to support win-win outcomes; seeks formative input.

Advance project management skills; proven success in significant cross-functional projects

Strong technical & verbal writing skills applicable to technical teams and Senior Leadership and/or Unit Leaders.
