Job Title: Network Operations Specialist/Engineer
Job Overview:
As a Network Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting, and management of an organization’s network infrastructure. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the network services, and applications.
As an Incident Manager, facilitate technical restoration efforts and communications to achieve service level objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Monitoring: Continuously monitor the network to ensure uptime and performance, using network monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Incident Management: Respond to service-related incidents, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions to minimize downtime.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, incidents, changes, and performance metrics.
Collaboration: Work closely with the IT support team, system administrators, and other departments to ensure network alignment with organizational goals.
Disaster Recovery: Assist in developing and implementing network disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies.
Reporting: Provide regular reports on network performance, incidents, and improvements.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Experience with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.), operating systems (Linux, Windows Server), and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
Network Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with tools like SolarWinds, Nagios or PRTG for real-time network monitoring.
Security Awareness: Knowledge of network security best practices, including VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve network-related issues quickly and efficiently.
Communication Skills: Ability to clearly document and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Work Environment:
The NOC is 24x7 365 operations, shift may vary due to coverage, projects and other factors.
This role may require working outside of regular scheduled hours to support after-hours network changes or incident resolution.
Remote work may be possible, but candidates should be available for on-site support as needed.
