Position Overview:
We are seeking an IT professional to provide comprehensive network services including troubleshooting, monitoring, engineering, cabling (data/voice), performance evaluation, and system optimization for the Information Technology department. This role involves designing, implementing, and improving network solutions, managing vendor relationships and support agreements, analyzing network capacity and billing, and may require occasional statewide travel with overnight stays.
Duties:
- Provide network services including troubleshooting, monitoring, engineering, and cabling (data/voice)
- Evaluate and optimize system and network performance
- Design, direct, review, implement, and improve network and voice cabling solutions
- Work with vendors to develop and implement network solutions
- Develop policies and guidelines for network operations
- Troubleshoot major and minor network failures
- Analyze network capacity and validate network billing
- Manage vendor relationships and support agreements
- Analyze network requirements and performance for large-scale networks
- Install, test, and inspect deployed data communications systems
- Install, migrate, and support critical, multi-site networks
- Coordinate and interact with multiple vendors for problem resolution and network issue diagnosis
- Manage all phases of network installation and administration
- Research and document communications technologies, topologies, and trends
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing
- Use MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiently
- Apply working knowledge of LAN, WAN, WAP, Cradle Point / NetCloud, and cabling standards
Required Skills:
- 5 years of experience in data and telecommunications, including installing, testing, and inspecting deployed communications systems
- 5 years of experience in installing, maintaining, and supporting critical, multi-site networks
- 5 years of knowledge in wireline and wireless technologies, including fiber optics, T1, DS-3, MPLS, cellular (CDMA, TDMA, 5G), VoIP, and IP networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP
- 1 year of experience testing copper and fiber networks
Preferred Skills:
- 1 year of intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio
- 2 years of working knowledge of networking tools such as Fluke Versiv with light meter, netAlly AirCheck G3, netAlly nXG, iperf3, nmap, Wireshark, and traceroute
