ABOUT THIS ROLE

Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team and help support data centers located in the New York tri-state area.  This individual will help support and implement hardware and software changes to help maintain high availability of the on premise infrastructure.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Identify and diagnose server related networking issues on both Windows and Linux platforms. 

• Plan and document network and systems related changes to maintain the network infrastructure and support operations. Cisco and Arista Routers and Switch configurations.  

• Help support and work with teams to troubleshoot and diagnose network or server hardware / software related issues running various proprietary applications. 

• Maintain and monitor the storage networks allocating space as needed for development and production platforms. 

• Configure and deploy virtual machines in VMware vCenter as well as Hyper-V as needed to support the infrastructure. 

• Maintain and monitor various scheduled cron tasks and services including: Precision Time Protocol (PTP),  Network Time Protocol (NTP), Server Log Backups, Archive to Amazon S3 Jobs

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience) required.

• 3+ years of prior work experience

• Experience in Linux and Windows server environments 

• Experience with the following technologies: IP Routing, Switching, VPN’s, Security, QoS, Optical Networking, IP Services (DNS, DHCP), multicast, BGP, HSRP 

• Experience with network level diagnostics using Wireshark or other packet capture application 

• 1-3 years of Windows Services Experience (AD, WINS, DNS) or equivalent certification 

• 1-3 years of Cisco and/or Arista experience or equivalent network certifications 

• 1-2 years’ experience with VMWare ESXi / vCenter or equivalent certification 

• 1-2 years’ experience with Windows Hyper-V or equivalent certification 

• Experience in shell scripting or other program language (Perl, Python, etc) 

Required Skills/Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.

• Familiarity with various network types including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN.

• Strong understanding of network infrastructure, routing, and switching.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Work Environment

• This job operates in a hybrid, office environment.

• Up to 30% local travel (Travel to and from our New York office we well as to data centers in northern New Jersey multiple times per week maybe required for onsite maintenance.)

• Evening and weekend work will be required at times, but work will be scheduled in advance.

• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, such as servers and networking hardware.

• Ability to work in confined spaces, such as server rooms and network closets.

• Must be able to perform physical tasks such as crawling, bending, and reaching in order to install and maintain network equipment.

• Must have good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for working with cabling and small components.

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing technical tasks.

• Visual acuity to read technical documents, diagrams, and monitor network performance data on computer screens.

Salary Range

$94,500-$126,000

The annual base salary range for this position is noted above. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and office location.
