About the job:
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer and Systems Administrator to join our young and dynamic IT & Connectivity team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our network infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of servers, network devices, and internal systems. This hybrid end-to-end role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, supporting both the systems and network aspects of both our corporate and data center environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Management:
- Design, implement, and manage local and wide-area network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, WAF, network load balancers, and VPNs.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum availability.
- Perform routine network maintenance and upgrades, including applying patches and firmware updates.
- Configure and maintain network security protocols (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
- Implement and maintain network policies, procedures, and standards.
- Assist in the planning and execution of network expansions and optimizations to support future growth.
System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, hardware, storage and backup systems for servers and workstations.
- Ensure system performance, reliability, clustering, and security through regular maintenance and monitoring.
- Perform backups and disaster recovery tasks to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Implement and manage system security policies, including user access control, permissions, and encryption.
Collaboration and Support:
- Support users and troubleshoot issues related to system performance, hardware, and software.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and network solutions to support organizational goals.
- Provide support for internal and external users, responding to incidents and requests in a timely manner.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and emergencies.
- Maintain an inventory of hardware and software assets, ensuring proper licensing and documentation.
Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Regularly test disaster recovery procedures and update them as necessary.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation for network configurations, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate regular reports on system and network performance, security incidents, and maintenance activities, identifying areas for improvement.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Engineer, or similar role, with a solid understanding of both systems and networking principles, including Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud computing platforms are a plus. (VMware and Azure preferred)
- Strong knowledge of networking and routing protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, VLANs, NTP, BGP, OSPF, Wi-Fi, etc.) and hardware.
- Experience with system monitoring tools and network performance analysis.
- Scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Python, Ansible) are desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively, with minimal supervision.
- Relevant certifications are a plus.
