Narrative and Conversation Writer

This is a freelance-writing contractor position, offered by Anlatan. We are in need of turn-based fictional and creatively-written conversations & roleplays, formatted according to provided guidelines and standards. Our objective is to create a chat-style dataset for training upcoming Anlatan AI models; as such, we are looking to fill these positions with excellent creative writers who can deliver expressive, vibrant prose.

We are looking for individuals who have native (or indistinguishable-from-native) written-English fluency only. Candidates should have a passion for authorship, role-playing, worldbuilding, with a strong emphasis on collaborative writing. While prior experience creating prose or chatting with AI writing tools is a substantial benefit, the ideal candidate for this role would have a background in creative writing without such assistance, and need only express their meaningful, moving, or original insights into the topics they find most fascinating, while embodying a multiplicity of characters.

Salary is $18/hr.

As creating future AI models necessitates training on human-created work, it is prohibited to incorporate AI-generated text into your work at any time. Candidates must acknowledge all rendered services in this position are to be the original writing of the contractor, and free of contribution from AI-assisted writing tools in any way. Likewise, if you have a background in creating "clickbait", blog, or other non-creative writing related content please be aware that is the opposite of what we want from a candidate.

Your services and deliverables as a Narrative & Conversation Writer will include:

• Collaborating with your fellow writers to create fictional and naturally-flowing conversation & roleplay-style chats; typically, this is done by writing one side of a two-character chat between you and a human chat partner of your choice. Your chats can encompass anything from a casual exchange of dialogue to in-depth roleplays with intricate narration.

--- The capacity to imbue lifelike personality and 'spark' into the characters you write is NECESSARY for success in this role.

--- Those with strong writing skills will have the option to work independently, and have full creative control over their work. However, they should be aware that their work will be subject to higher evaluation standards. If leadership agrees that you possess the capability and experience to simulate a two-person conversation, you may be granted permission to do so.




• Supplementing conversations and/or roleplays you create with tags, descriptions of characters and locales, short summaries of what transpired, and the emotions each character feels during every message.

--- These details are mandatory, as they're the keys to bringing your creative vision to life and breathing heart and soul into the next generation of chatbot AI, however, you will have substantial creative freedom in creating this data.




• Editing and correcting typographical mistakes in the creative fiction you and your partners create with us, helping us ensure the data used for AI training is as clean and high-quality as possible.




• We categorize writing categories into two distinct sub-categories. “Safe for Work” and “Not Safe for Work”, you may freely alternate between the two categories during the contract depending on your comfort level. Conversational topics are subject to review in order to meet quality and safety standards.




Becoming a part of our team will allow you unrestricted freedom to write either 'Safe For Work' or 'Not Safe For Work' content about any topic you wish, according to your comfort level (and upon approval by a team Lead). The Work Environment

This contract is entirely remote, and does not have a physical location report requirement. This contract pays hourly, with invoices submitted twice-monthly; contractors have extraordinary control over their own work hours.

The vast majority of our communication with you in this role will occur through the Discord application. Rarely, we may also schedule meetings with you to keep you informed, such as a 1:1 onboarding session when you begin. You must have a PC for this position, smartphones/iPads/tablets are not accepted.

To all persons filling this role, we will provide reference documents, live onboarding, and a bespoke proprietary website environment ideal for creating data in the format expected of you. No offer of employment is necessarily extended with this contract.
