About Department
University Communications’ Advancement Marketing and Communications team sets the strategic communications vision and marketing strategies that inspire, promote, and celebrate philanthropic support at USC. The team delivers compelling storytelling through digital, video, print, and social platforms to connect with alumni, donors, and friends.
Position Overview
USC Communications is seeking a Multimedia Producer to create, manage, and deliver high-quality video and multimedia content that supports strategic communications and engagement goals within University Advancement. This role blends creative vision and technical expertise to tell USC’s stories in compelling and innovative ways — from ideation through final production.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-motivated producer who thrives in a collaborative environment, is passionate about storytelling, and brings a strong command of digital media tools and best practices. Key responsibilities include:
Compelling Multimedia Content

Develop and deliver high-quality videos and digital media that tell inspiring stories about USC’s mission and the impact of philanthropy.

Create, produce, direct, and edit high-impact projects that encourage donor engagement and support gift announcements, stewardship plans, and internal programs.
End-to-End Media Production

Produce 3 – 5+ video and/or photography projects per month with a strong eye for visual storytelling and attention to detail.

Oversee production timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure smooth, on-time execution.
Strategic Collaboration

Collaborate with colleagues to develop concepts, plans, scripts, storyboards, and final multimedia elements for a variety of digital channels.

Work closely with partners across USC Advancement, Communications, and academic units to support and translate university concepts into multimedia stories of impact.
This is a hybrid position under our current work arrangement plan, with the expectation of on-site presence in our offices in the USC Tower, located adjacent to campus in downtown Los Angeles.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combined education and experience).

2 years of work experience

Comprehensive understanding of the technical and creative aspects of pre-production, production, and post-production processes.

Expert knowledge and skill as a DV, HD, and DSLR video camera operator, with experience shooting with multiple cameras and formats.

A valid California Driver’s License is required.
Preferred Qualifications
-
3 years of professional experience in various forms of media, including video and still photography, video and audio editing, graphic arts and animation, scriptwriting, and interactive media.

Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition).

Strong storytelling, scriptwriting, and editing abilities.

Experience managing multiple multimedia projects simultaneously, including coordination with vendors and production teams.

Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Passion for higher education, philanthropy, and mission-driven storytelling.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $34.33 – $44.27 hourly. When determining an offer, the University of Southern California considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills, internal peer alignment, applicable laws, contractual requirements, grant funding, and market conditions.

Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience in a professional digital media production environment. Demonstrated competence in all areas of digital media production. Thorough knowledge of video and audio production procedures, practices, techniques, equipment and terminology. Knowledge of analog and digital video and audio capture, file compression, video switching, character generation, graphics manipulation, lighting, and post-production equipment and software. Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills.
