Position Summary:

We are hiring a Mobile Response Stabilization Services Peer Support Specialist to provide mobile response and stabilization services in conjunction with the entire MRSS team. MRSS services are provided to youth (age 2-20) and families who have called the crisis hotline with a family identified crisis.

As the MRSS Peer Support Specialist, you will respond face-to-face (in person or via video conferencing) with another MRSS Team member to high risk crisis situations within an hour to assess the youth and stabilize the family. After the initial 72 hours, you and other members of the MRSS team will provide the family ongoing stabilization and care coordination services. Under the supervision of the MRSS supervisory team, you will assist families to navigate the crisis and connect to needed services.

This position is part of a brand new program at Applewood and will be funded through the MHARS Board and Ohio Medicaid. The hourly rate for this on-call, crisis response position begins at an annual salary of $45,000.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Mobile response to a family identified crisis within one hour.
  • Engage youth and families in de-escalating the crisis and assess for risk.
  • Facilitate hospitalization for clients as necessary.
  • Assist with the completion of the CANS assessment and help develop a safety plan and a MRSS plan.
  • Provide ongoing stabilization services with the youth and families for up to six weeks.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and services to meet client needs.
  • Maintain a professional posture with clients and families that reflects courtesy, respect and the highest ethical standards.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment according to HIPPA guidelines. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED along with 1-3 years’ experience in the mental health field, preferably with children, adolescents and their families.
  • Must obtain Peer Support Certification (we will assist with this training)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to work cooperatively as a team as well as independently.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records and ability to work effectively with diverse populations with complex psychiatric needs.
  • A valid driver's license, vehicle and auto insurance coverage
