Job Description:

Designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting high frequency mixed signal analog front-end (AFE) chips for all phases of product development.

Typical duties include:

•     Devise test methods to evaluate the performance and operating margins of high-speed digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital circuitry, as well as supporting circuitry on automotive market ICs.

•     Devise statistically and scientifically sound methodologies to determine &/or verify the effectiveness and accuracy of a variety of challenging mixed signal (analog-to/from-digital) tests.

•     Measure electrical characteristics into the low picosecond and millivolt regime in the time domain for newly designed integrated circuits for automotive sensing/communications.

•     Measure electrical characteristics into the nanovolt/Hz regime in the frequency domain across ultra-wideband frequency ranges for newly designed integrated circuits for automotive sensing/communications.

•     Work closely with chip, package and board designers to improve the testability and test methodologies of various circuits.

•     Research and evaluate state of the art test equipment, modules, and components to design the optimal configuration of test hardware for the most accurate testing possible.

•     Utilize state of the art bench test equipment to determine the parametric performance of ICs with the ultimate precision and accuracy.

•     Utilize a broad set of skills to isolate issues at the sub-system, PCB, chip package, and die level, working individually or with a team of system/board, chip, and package designers.

•     Design automated bench level device testing procedures by utilizing programmable test equipment and python.

•     Participate in the design and development of chip evaluation fixtures (particularly printed circuit boards), test hardware, and test equipment, interacting with vendor and other internal hardware design engineers as needed.

•     Generate comprehensive test reports with creative and clear analysis methods that highlight the relationships between stimulus / setup conditions and device performance.

Required Experience:

Bachelors and 5+ years of related experience; at this level, a post-graduate degree is typically expected, or Masters degree and 3+ years of related experience, or a PhD

Additional requirements:

•     Must understand and implement test methods required for high-speed custom & standards-compliant chips for the automotive market, for interfaces/circuits such as DDR, MIPI, Ethernet, PCI-Express, and high frequency mixed signal characterization.

•     Must develop, accurately track, and meet commitments to product characterization or engineering development schedules.

•     Understand and be very familiar with the operation and principles of modern high speed test equipment, including but not limited to power supplies, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes (with emphasis on jitter and noise analysis), audio analyzers/generators, vector network analyzers, waveform and signal generators.

•     Able to measure, understand and analyze causes of jitter and noise down into sub-picosecond and sub-millivolt domains.

•     Able to measure, quantify and analyze non-idealities of coherent signals across analog and digital domains.

•     Must be experienced with analyzing multi-gigabit per second ADC and DAC testing with ultra-high resolution techniques.

•     Understand fundamentals of VLSI IC I/O & control, and built-in self test (BIST).

•     Familiarity with usage & principles of fiberoptic components in a system / testbed application such as optical transceivers, couplers, lasers, optical amplifiers, attenuators, and optical fiber is very beneficial.

•     Safety conscious with clean and orderly work habits.

•     Skilled in the use of calibration standards and methodologies.

•     Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.

•     Well organized, methodical, and detail oriented.

•     Team player and can easily work with different personalities and skill levels.

•     Highly quality oriented ethics are essential to properly define, develop, qualify, and perform extremely high confidence test methodologies and techniques for products used in automotive/advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

•     Extensive programming experience in at least one of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Matlab, perl, or python (python is highly preferred).

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000 - $146,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
