The Category Specialist role drives the Meijer Express inside merchandising sales as a category expert handling: vendor relations, case pack sourcing, contract documentation (under Buyers guidance), legal standards by state, and ad-hoc analysis for category review and business performance analytics.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Responsible for pricing, advertising, item setup and management of the cigarette, alcohol, and select food categories in all C-Stores.
  • Own Beer/Wine Pricing decisions made based on sales and providing margin analysis.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting legal compliance by state, work with legal team and ACO on eligibility and compliance tracking related to Alcohol and Tobacco. In addition, the Category Specialist will manage and provide recommendation directly to the VP, Meijer Express as related to ACO concerns.
  • Point of contact for vendors on promotions and events.
  • Manage category specific Initiative execution, including but not limited to Car Washes and Air Serv.
  • Run and provide recommendations for exception reporting, item accuracy, and item maintenance.
  • Provide product support and POG support at 984. Work with vendors and communication with resets for Cooler/Beer Doors.
  • Determine and source all DSD product/vendors for New Store Openings.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot cigarette/tobacco reporting.
  • This job profile in not meant to be all inclusive of the responsibilities of this position, may perform other duties as assigned or required.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree or related curriculum.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as MicroStrategy .
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Xcel/PowerPoint), and retail item setup software preferred.
