Role description
As a Mechanical Project Engineer II - Modeling & Drafting, you will support engineers in the New Product Development group by creating 3D models, 2D drawings, and documentation for frame, body, cabin, and other components on forklifts.
This position is with the TICO Pune Development Center, a sister company of Vanderlande, both of which are part of the parent organization, TICO. This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Team Leader of Modeling and Drafting.
Responsibilities / Key Activities:
- The Engineer-Modeling & Drafting has the following responsibilities and key activities:
- Develop parametric 3D models, drawings, and study files using Solid Edge. Manage files in TeamCenter PDM
- software.
- Work with a wide range of parts including welded steel assemblies, metal castings, plastics,
- rubbers, multi-part assemblies, electrical components, and more.
- Conduct engineering checks. Provide data and documentation to engineers for analysis and
- judgment. Update models and documentation according to the direction as required.
- Ensure drawing quality by following company standards and considering design intent, materials, quality control characteristics,
- dimensions, tolerances, product requirements, and clarity.
- Manage parts list (BOM) in PDM and in other engineering documents.
- Create engineering change documentation.
- Follow technical company standards for modeling and drafting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost, quality, and delivery of new products.
Education & Experience
We search for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, 2-4 years of experience
- Requires minimum 2 or more years of experience creating models and drawings in Solid Edge
- Experience in the forklift industry, automotive industry, or heavy equipment design
- Detail-oriented individual with great documentation skills
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong analytical ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills and work effectively with cross-cultural teams
Software Proficiency
Experienced with 3D and 2D modeling in Solid Edge; PDM Experience in Siemens Teamcenter (PDM) or Enovia SmarTeam preferred.
