Leidos is seeking a talented and highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the engineering team at our Poulsbo, WA facility. The individual will support an Ocean Mechanical Engineering team that’s executing multiple contracts in operations, maintenance, and development of acoustic measurement facilities and systems. The position offers an exciting opportunity for hands-on training with skilled professionals. In addition, the selected candidate will apply skills/theories into real-world problem solving and gain valuable work experience in the field of Ocean Mechanical and Systems Engineering.
Primary Responsibilities
This internship will support the design and development of ocean systems projects under the mentorship of engineering staff. The selected candidate will be expected to become familiar with drafting software and the drawing development process. This intern will primarily be involved with generating and maintaining mechanical drawings for parts and assemblies related to programs currently underway. The candidate will be expected to interface with several team members to gather requirements, provide design, analysis, and present ideas and solutions under the supervision of the engineering staff.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in ABET accredited Master's Degree program in Ocean or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, and have completed at least 4 years of curriculum with a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Familiarity with interpreting mechanical drawings
- Experience working on mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work without close supervision.
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Adaptability to new challenges with a strong motivation to grow and learn in new areas
- Strong communication skills
- US citizenship is required
- Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Solidworks or other drafting software
- Knowledge in basics of Systems Engineering

Pay Range:Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
