Leidos is seeking a Summer 2025 Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Long Beach, MS office. We are seeking a candidate to work with our engineering and production teams as we develop and produce cutting-edge solutions to challenging defense-related problems. As an intern, you will work with experienced engineers in a hands-on environment which offers the opportunity to work on real-world problems. You will apply what you have already learned while gaining additional skills and knowledge as you work under the direction (mentoring) of a more senior engineer.
Primary Responsibilities.
- Create and modify detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings using the SolidWorks software suite.
- Assist the design, development, installation, and maintenance of mechanical hardware and/or systems.
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Taking design input from multiple engineering disciplines.
- Perform tasks to completion semi-independently after receiving technical direction.
- Work with production staff to ensure products are manufactured as designed and in a timely manner.
- Participate in product verification testing designed to ensure requirements are being met.
Basic Qualifications.
- Enrolled in an ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Experience with the SolidWorks software suite.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
- Completion of sophomore-level engineering curriculum.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be self-motivated with the desire to learn and perform diverse work.
- Must work well with others and be able to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Average physical mobility to move around an office and lab environment.
Preferred Qualifications.
- Hands-on experience working on mechanical assemblies.
- Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA).
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- General construction experience.
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA.
- Experience with maritime engineering and technology.

Pay Range:Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00
