What Do We Do?

Business Unit: Maintenance

We maximize machine availability and up-time across the plant

Ongoing Projects

• Continuous Improvement activities to increase machine availability.
• Preventative and predictive maintenance to increase reliability of equipment.
• Perform breakdown fixes on equipment.

Your Role as an Intern

You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:

• Updating maintenance drawings to aid in troubleshooting. The drawings will have "call outs" added to include part information, physical locations, etc.
• PM Optimization. Intern will work with maintenance staff to document PM tasks and create standardized work for those tasks to increase staff efficiency.

What Do We Require?

You must be:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Reliability Engineering
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Experience working with AutoCAD, Excel and Adobe Acrobat
• Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics; team players, reliable and detail oriented
• Willing and able to work on-site at our Athens, AL location.
• Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter’s government contracts.

Pay Range

Hourly rates are based on: 1 – Program of study; 2 – Degree type (i.e., Bachelor’s); 3 – Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)

Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Athens, AL area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Athens, AL area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.
