JOB SUMMARY:
In this position, the Mechanical Engineer (PDEV) will support the Senior Mechanical Engineer (ARCH) and the mechanical team in all phases of product development, from conceptualization to launch, while applying the right mixture of proven design standards and procedures, personal experience, knowledge, and critical thinking skills.
This person will contribute to the effective and timely development of electromechanical modules accomplished by working closely with internal and external suppliers, and peers.
The Mechanical Engineer is a key element in the process of identifying, understanding, and translating customer technical requirements into quantifiable deliverables and for their further compliance in terms of form, fit, and function in the final product.
To satisfy this responsibility, the Mechanical Engineer must ensure that efficient and effective mechanical design and engineering processes are adhered to.
SKILLS:
In this position, the Mechanical Engineer (PDEV) will provide interface between the Senior Mechanical Engineer (ARCH) and the assigned Mechanical project team (MCAD, SME) with respect to the execution of the mechanical design direction of components, systems, and subsystems as provided by the Senior Mechanical Engineer (ARCH)
- Demonstrate evidence based, data driven decision making.
- Demonstrate effective risk identification.
- Demonstrate ownership toward "On-time and on Budget" execution.
- Clearly understand all metrics, targets and stretch goals such as: Phase deliverable timing - EV/DV/PV performance - Mechanical design effects on manufacturing build yields and its impact to change/launch.
- Translate product design direction and objectives to the design teams as required by the level of complexity and timing of the assigned project.
- Drive problem resolution using a disciplined approach methodology (e.g. A3, 8D, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Clearly understand costed BOMs and VAVE proposition decision making.
- Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization and escalate roadblocks accordingly
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide baseline Mech BOM and subsequent updates for review.
- DFMEA development and peer review.
- Make product changes through the Change Request/Order and configuration management systems
- Create or provide guidance to the MCAD engineers on manufacturable part creation as needed and according to the applicable manufacturing method.
- Perform calculations for critical dimensional design goals. Document at each phase.
- Conduct 2D drawing and 3D models peer reviews with the assign project team
- Drive for optimum molding tools and process development. Participate in Technical Team Reviews (TTRs).
- Incorporate advanced DFA analysis and decision-making methodologies (Pugh matrix,) to implement best assembly methods into the design of mechanical systems.
- Lead or assist in discussions with suppliers, and internal stakeholders in order to meet phase deliverables with the project launch curve.
- Provide evidence-based documentation of program or project execution deliverables.
- Provide support to Engineering phase reviews and project gate reviews.
- Assist in the Development of Global Best Practices for the Mechanical engineering Discipline.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Process initiatives (CIPs).
- Participate in Cost Savings initiatives.
- Update Material Data in the IMDS Database when needed.
Your education, experience and knowledge
- Education: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable degree.
- Years of Experience: Level 1 = 3+ years , Level 2 = 5+, Level 3 = 10+ years.
- Language: preferred Dutch and English.
- Excellent communication skills: Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Adept at Microsoft Office Suite.
- In depth knowledge of NX Cad systems and Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of automotive systems, processes, applications, nomenclature, IMDS.
- You need to have a valid work visa for The Netherlands.
