SharkNinja is looking for a self-driven Mechanical Engineer to join the NPD group within Ninja Engineering. This team member will participate in idea generation as well as product development from conceptualization to implementation, and will be directly involved in designing new ideas and technologies that will drive New Product Development. We’re seeking a versatile engineer with the ability to turn concepts into scalable products. This role calls for a champion of design engineering who thrives on architecting innovative products and has a working knowledge of taking products through to manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Help drive the engineering design and development of cutting edge products within the Ninja team
  • Design and build prototypes for internal review, testing, and consumer validation
  • Identification of and solving a broad range of problems using an analytical approach
  • Hold cross-functional brainstorming sessions and encourage out-of-the-box thinking
  • Participate in peer design reviews.  Think critically about new product concepts, and asking the provocative questions necessary for positive change
  • Collaborate with R&D, ID, Marketing and Quality teams to develop and design Ninja’s next generation products
  • Generation of test reports and proactively communicating status of testing efforts
  • Tearing down, debugging, and analyzing electro-mechanical small appliances.
  • Creating test protocols of products and generating reports per SharkNinja specifications
  • Creating and performing DOE to develop a first principles understanding of key variables
  • Reviewing and interpreting test results providing feedback on product improvement solutions
  • Researching new technologies with constant learning of what would be possible for use tomorrow
  • Implementation and finalization of new ideas with out-of-the-box engineering solutions
  • Work within our multi-disciplinary team to define, design, build, and test new products across the lifecycle from initial conception to mass production
  • Exploring and sourcing materials, vendors, and components
  • Building and troubleshooting prototypes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the detailed design of consumer products
  • Understanding of mass production manufacturing techniques for plastic and sheet metal components
  • Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution
  • Familiar with electro-mechanical assemblies: motors, heating elements, sensors, PCBA’s, buttons, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with machine shop equipment
  • Fabrication skill, hand tools, ability to prototype quickly
  • Flexible, enjoys switching gears, and working in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Desire to play a critical role in shaping the cutting-edge new consumer appliances on store shelves by driving how those products function
  • Ability to travel globally, including trips to China and the UK 
  • Passion for cooking and food a plus!

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow
  • 2+ years of experience in product design and development, working within cost and manufacturing limitations
  • CAD proficiency in ProE/Creo or SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with production processes such as injection molding and sheet metal forming, as well as prototyping techniques such as 3D printing
  • Sharing an engineering portfolio which shows examples of prior design work is recommended
