Your Responsibilities

Our Intelligent Solutions Group designs and manufactures ruggedized electronics modules that power John Deere machines and is used by customers worldwide. From power inverters for traction drive and power off-boarding to perception computers for machine automation to chassis and powertrain control modules, we are at the forefront of technological advancement. Joining our dynamic team in Advanced Engineering, Robotics and Mobility Technology based in Fargo, North Dakota, you'll have the exciting opportunity to work alongside a passionate group of engineers and scientists, diving into intriguing research projects that involve electronics assembly processes and material analysis.
As a Materials Analysis Specialist for John Deere Intelligent Solution Group located in Fargo, ND, you will work closely with scientists, engineering design, and development teams across John Deere on mechanical design, thermal design, and electronic assembly processes. In addition, you will:

  • Interact and collaborate with engineers and scientists to define project goals and execute plans to design products and reliability testing.
  • Support failure analysis of electronic devices, packages, and systems.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and operate multiple pieces of lab equipment necessary to conduct experiments.
  • Maintain accurate records of the work performed and other records required by the projects.
  • Share project progress through oral presentations and written reports.
  • Present technical work both internally and externally.
  • Think independently and develop imaginative and unique solutions to problems.

What Skills You Need

  • Knowledge of analytical tools such as Ion Chromatography, XRF, FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR Spectroscopy, TGA, DSC, Acoustic Microscopy, SEM/EDS etc.
  • Attention to detail in laboratory work, documentation, and presentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in a diverse, global team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage work queue, and perform multiple, concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


What Makes You Stand Out

  • A basic understanding of electronics assembly process and materials used.
  • An interest in working in the electronics industry.
  • 1 or more years' experience in analytical techniques for materials characterization


Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or other related discipline
  • Master's degree (preferred)
