Mascot Specialist

As the Mascot Specialist for the most action-packed motorsports event on four wheels, you will perform as the mascot at Monster Jam events nationwide, schedule local appearances in various cities, script in-event involvement, and manage social media channels for a brand-new mascot that you will have the exciting opportunity to unveil for Monster Jam.

Essential Functions

• Perform at Monster Jam events across the country by portraying a high energy, engaging, entertaining, and family-friendly mascot. 
• This position requires a demanding travel schedule. The full-time mascot specialist for Monster Jam will be expected to travel 5 out of 7 days a week, for approximately 30+ weeks in a year.
• Manage relationships across department lines to collaborate with various departments, including but not limited to, Public Relations Dept, Social Media Dept., etc. 
• Collaborate with the creative and branding teams to develop graphics, signs, and other creative materials to assist in marketing both Monster Jam and the mascot.
• Add entertainment to the Monster Jam event experience by developing and executing new performance skits, crowd interaction bits, Pit Party activities and entertainment, live noise meters, and reactionary bits based on the event and crowd reaction.  
• Collaborate with the production team to write and execute skits during Monster Jam events. 
• Manage mascot social media accounts that align with Monster Jam’s brand guidelines to maintain and grow channels by regularly developing, creating, and executing high quality content. 
• Compose budgets, track expenses, research purchases, manage vendors, and log all data relating to the mascot’s revenue, expenses, and appearances. 
• Work directly with the Monster Jam Production staff to coordinate all mascot elements for events, special events, and content pieces.
• Responsible for maintaining the look, feel, smell, and overall upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance of the costume, wardrobe, props, etc. as well as ensuring safe travel of all elements. 
• Successfully manage the duality of being the talent in the suit as well as being the team member in the office independently running a full extension of the brand and the time that takes therein.
• Perform other duties, as assigned. 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent GED degree; college graduate preferred. 
• Minimum of one (1) or more years’ experience as a character performer at the collegiate, minor, or professional league level, or other relevant experience 
• Possesses a positive, approachable, and coachable demeanor with strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and create strong team dynamics.
• Creative and strategic thinker with up-to-date knowledge of social media trends and best practices, skilled in crafting standout content and fostering brand-aligned community engagement. 
• Sales/marketing/customer service experience or background is a plus 
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and Holidays dependent on business demands 
• Between the height of 5’7 and 6’2
• Must have valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive. 

Skills & Abilities

• Must be dedicated, reliable, punctual, and family-friendly. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, professional business correspondence, and typing skills. 
• Proficiency in managing and creating content for social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
• Choreography and/or skit writing experience. 
• Ability to dance and stay in rhythm. 
• Good with spontaneous crowd-interaction. 
• Excellent interpersonal skills (especially with children) and strong non-verbal communication skills. 
• Organizational skills. 
• Music and video editing skills is a plus. 
• Must possess physical endurance to perform with high energy in a confined mascot costume in an outdoor stadium environment with extreme temperature conditions. Ability to tolerate heat is needed.
• Ability to work under pressure. 
• Ability to maintain travel scheduling and prioritize duties for effective and successful appearances.
• Always demonstrate positive and professional behavior towards the community and co-workers 
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and be a team player 
• Ability to carry a minimum of 25 lbs. and wear a mascot suit of varying weight.
