Join us as an Engineering Manager

Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting an Engineering Manager to join our Markets Systems team in Krakow. In this role you will lead a team of high skilled cross functional teams and serve as coach, mentor and technical adviser.

The Markets Systems team provides development support for trading applications and transaction processing systems for Brown Brother Harriman’s Foreign Exchange and Securities Lending departments. These departments are located in several locations around the world (New York/New Jersey, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo) and use applications that are designed and developed by Markets Systems teams located in Krakow, New Jersey and Boston.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

• Leading a team of high skilled cross functional teams and serve as coach, mentor and technical adviser.

• Working with leadership, product management and platform teams across our business unit to ensure business requirements are met effectively

• Leading the creation of features and product releases by being closely involved with the product development, design, and review.

• Organize, identify, and assign work based on priority and importance. Help balance engineering time between new features, and improvements to old systems

• Working closely with the rest of the leadership and product management team on product strategy and roadmap refinement with the customer first thinking.

• Hold regular 1:1s with direct reports, help them navigate challenges, and coach them for their career development. Help recruit top talent.

• Plan & implement strategies to help team align with the organizational goals.

• Drive for Automation, challenge the status quo and drive automation of manual processes. Inspire teams to embrace this philosophy.

• Provide technical leadership on best practices for chosen architecture and technology

Desired Qualifications:

• 4+ years of management experience in the tech industry as an Engineering Manager or equivalent experience.

• 8+ years of hands-on technical experience in an Agile environment.

• Strong technology background, hands-on experience in development

• Proven track record in designing large scale distributed systems with Java technologies 

• Experience in building CI/CD pipelines

• Comfortable with Agile operating models

• Excellent Communication skills

• Experience with microservice architecture

• Familiar with cloud technologies, knowledge of OpenShift (Docker, Kubernetes)

• BS degree in Technology and/or equivalent work experience
