Overview

The Marketing Strategy Manager role involves developing and implementing Marketing Strategy to meet major company objectives and to increase brand visibility. The position requires close collaboration with the Director of Marketing Communications and other Marketing team members, as well as cooperation with Product Managers, Sales Managers, Support Managers, Scientists and other key stakeholders. Responsibilities include assessing market needs, executing creative and effective marketing campaign plans, analyzing campaign performance, and contributing insights to continuously improve future strategies. LI-COR is a fast-paced, growing environmental monitoring business addressing global issues such as food security, water management, energy sustainability, and climate change mitigation. This strategist translates the company's goals into actionable tasks, and the person must be prepared to move quickly, make decisions, hold team members accountable, and lead with consistency and energy through change and complexity to deliver results that matter.

Professional Qualifications

Education

  • B.S., B.A., or M.S. in biology, environmental sciences, life sciences, marketing, journalism, or a related field. A business degree or minor is desirable but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in marketing strategy, market research, or a related field OR a Master’s degree plus two (2) years of experience in technical sales, marketing, or product management.
  • Proven ability to learn technical details and interest in scientific instrumentation and its applications.
  • Experience with some or all of the following software programs: Windows, Apple, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Marketing Automation, SharePoint, and other applicable software.

Position Responsibilities

Specific - Specific job responsibilities will include most but not necessarily all of the following:

  • In coordination with other members of the Marketing team, develop a marketing strategy designed to increase brand visibility and to meet key company initiatives that will increase revenue, such as launching new products, repositioning existing products, engaging customers, initiating or supporting sales campaigns, or opening new marketing channels.
  • Use market knowledge and input from Product Managers, Sales Managers, Support Managers, Scientists and other stakeholders to create detailed and creative marketing campaign plans, including goals, budget, timelines, milestones, and metrics for evaluating success.
  • Use personas and positioning statements to develop solution-oriented product messaging for use in the appropriate marketing channel. Employ messaging to create and/or manage content for various marketing channels, including websites, brochures, social media, advertisements, webinars, email campaigns, media relations, press releases, or e-commerce.
  • In coordination with Content Manager, Art Director, and Digital Marketing Specialist, support web optimization strategies.
  • Oversee and refine lead acquisition and nurturing processes in coordination with the Sales team (especially the Sales Development Representatives) and the Digital Marketing Specialist, including lead scoring, lead routing, email campaigns, and the strategic use of marketing automation software.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of tradeshow strategy to maximize brand exposure and engagement and employ tradeshows as part of specific marketing campaigns.
  • Follow consistent branding and messaging across the entire product line while aligning with corporate marketing strategies.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate key marketing funnel analytics and use data to make decisions about existing and future campaigns.
  • Assist in creating and managing the yearly advertising budget, ensuring cost-effective marketing investments.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the marketplace, industry trends, and customer needs to inform marketing strategies.

General

  • Provide internal communication and participate in ongoing internal and channel partner sales training as well as any training required for new marketing campaigns or product launches.
  • Seek out customer interactions to evaluate marketing effectiveness and enhance customer engagement.
  • Stay informed on industry developments by reviewing journal articles, newsletters, and product literature.
  • Represent LI-COR at scientific meetings, tradeshows, and industry events.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
