Role Value Proposition:
This role sits within the Global Enterprise Platform, Martech department and is essential to supporting program governance and performance as we develop a centralized Marketing Data Platform to provide marketers with access to curated data needed for exploratory analysis, sophisticated/automated cross-channel activation, and advanced analytics. This individual will report within our Marketing Data Enablement team, and collaborate with key stakeholders on the Marketing Team, Martech, and Data teams within the Global Technology Organization to ensure that the Marketing Data Platform enables key business drivers.
We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineering Lead with expertise in marketing technology to design, develop, and optimize scalable data solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Azure cloud services, data modeling, and data architecture to support marketing analytics, customer data platforms, and campaign personalization. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on engineering skills, and a strategic mindset to enable data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Engineering & Architecture
- Design and implement scalable, cloud-native data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Functions.
- Develop and maintain real-time and batch data processing solutions to support marketing analytics and customer intelligence.
- Optimize data lake, data warehouse, and data mesh architectures for performance, cost, and governance.
- Data Modeling & Design
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models tailored for marketing analytics, customer segmentation, and campaign automation.
- Implement data normalization, denormalization, and schema optimization techniques for efficient querying and reporting.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and governance across marketing data platforms.
- Marketing Technology & Customer Data Integration
- Lead integration of first-party, second-party, and third-party data sources (CRM, web analytics, ad platforms, CDPs, etc.).
- Support identity resolution, customer 360 views, and audience segmentation strategies.
- Work closely with marketing teams to enhance personalization, attribution modeling, and real-time campaign optimization.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead a team of data engineers, analysts, and architects in delivering high-quality data solutions.
- Collaborate with marketing, analytics, IT, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
- Provide thought leadership on data best practices, emerging technologies, and cloud innovation.
- Performance Optimization & Security
- Implement data governance, security, and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
- Optimize data ingestion, storage, and query performance for large-scale datasets.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and efficiency of data pipelines.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Azure Data Services: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake, SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs, Logic Apps.
- Data Modeling & Warehousing: Star/Snowflake schema, dimensional modeling, data vault, NoSQL modeling.
- Programming & Scripting: SQL, Python, Spark, Scala, or PowerShell.
- Marketing Technology: Adobe Experience platform-CDP, Adobe Analytics (Salesforce, HubSpot), DMPs, Google Analytics, Adobe Experience Cloud, Campaign Automation.
- Cloud & DevOps: Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep).
- Leadership & Communication: Experience leading teams, working cross-functionally with marketing and IT.
Preferred:
- Data analysis and data visualization using tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
- Experience with AI/ML models for marketing analytics (e.g., churn prediction, sentiment analysis).
- Familiarity with BigQuery, Snowflake, or AWS/GCP cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Real-Time Data Streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, or Azure Event Hub).
- Understanding of privacy-preserving data strategies (hashed PII, tokenization, differential privacy).
