The Role: 

This individual will lead the cross functional team producing J.D. Power’s valuation services and specialty vehicles suite of used vehicle data and analytics products (including Automotive Lease Guide residual values, Used Car Guide values, CLEAR values, and specialty vehicles including motorcycles, RVs, boats, and manufactured homes). The team will include these functions: vehicle configuration setting, insights (value setting), quality assurance, data visualization, production data science, and client fulfillment & delivery.

This position heavily impacts the reputation and credibility of J.D. Power's valuations services and specialty vehicles products, from the perspective that our results are seen and used by clients on a daily basis.


 What You'll Be Doing in This Role: 

  • Act as a managing editor of residual value and used car value publications (e.g., oversee themes, sign off on results, summarize insights, collaborate with customer success regarding communication to end clients regarding “why”, ensure all appropriate quality assurance steps are taken, etc.).
  • Lead the production execution of technical teams’ processes, managing a growing team of approximately 30-35 data professionals.
  • Streamline and improve existing processes through a variety of means, including automation, industry best practice benchmarking, continuous improvement and AI end-to-end (i.e., strategy through to selection and implementation).
  • Independently manage, prioritize and implement product roadmaps (short- and long-term) with Technology partners for tools used by sub-teams within this role’s purview.
  • Manage the cross functional team against a balanced scorecard of production, quality, throughput, and accuracy KPIs, and proactively adjust KPIs over time as appropriate.
  • Lead cross training and skill leveling across sub-teams.
  • Collaborate with data science for implementation of modern model monitoring / ML Ops best practices, methodology articulation and proactive, scheduled client communication.
  • Implement product enhancements in alignment with product team roadmaps and client feedback.


Qualifications of this Role: 

  • 15+ years of working with clients and developing data production capabilities involving analytics products and services.
  • 10+ years of experience in the automotive sector, with expertise in used vehicle valuations, and their associated drivers and market dynamics.
  • 10+ years of experience driving transformational change with data insights professionals and major organization-wide initiatives, with proof of business performance impacts.
  • 10+ years of experience in advanced data preparation, advanced statistics, data science, AI and insights generation.
  • 10+ years of experience leading technical teams of 20+ with diverse skill sets, including 5+ years of experience leading managers of managers (i.e., 2+ levels within an organization).
  • 10+ years of experience developing new analytical features and products based on existing and net-new data assets.
  • 5+ years of experience leading data visualization and quality assurance vision and strategy, with proof of business performance impacts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mastery of many of these: SQL, Python, PySpark, R, Tableau, Excel, ThoughtSpot, and Palantir for advanced data analysis and visualization.
  • Deep understanding of data-driven storytelling techniques.
  • Comfort and significant experience learning analytical processes as a hands-on player-coach.
  • Comfort and significant experience coaching teams to balance industry experience, business acumen and analytical rigor to efficiently solve pragmatic business problems.
  • Proof of transforming analytical processes with a variety of tools for efficiency and quality impact.
  • Bachelor and Master’s degree in a technical field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
