Responsibilities, Experience and Competencies
- Oversee and direct the activities of our Automation and Maintenance resources.
- Work with operations team to maximize production flow and lower costs while maintaining quality and minimizing down time.
- Work closely with the operations manager to ensure plant availability is maintained to an acceptable level and continuously improved.
- Active participant in EHS efforts with ownership and oversight of several EHS programs that includes developing and monitoring safe working practices and written policies.
- Work with financial and management team to create annual budgets for Automation and Maintenance and monitor spending to ensure adherence to set budget.
- Create and maintain teams that are engaged and welcome innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration.
- This job will require an advanced level of knowledge in project management, cost analysis, manufacturing operations, automation, and capital projects.
- Visits to suppliers of equipment and services, domestically and internationally.
- Vet new technology on a technical level to understand if it is ready to deploy into the facility.
- Coordinate and facilitate installation of new equipment and layouts.
- Proficient in setting priorities and handling multiple ongoing projects.
- This job regularly requires interpersonal communications such as advising, recommending, or counseling, exchanging information, persuading or influencing and other communications with various levels within the organization.
- Group communications such as participating in meetings or group discussions; and composing written communications such as internal policies and technical writing.
- Ability to analyze complex mechanical problems and develop reasonable solutions
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) including preventive maintenance system implementation and optimization.
- Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance / Predictive Maintenance techniques including infrared thermography, vibration analysis and oil analysis.
- Experience with Maintenance Inventory Management.
- Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control) for equipment performance and KPI’s associated with continuous improvement such as MTBF, MTTR, Uptime, OEE, PM Compliance, Preventive/Reactive Service.
- Prepared to be “hands on” not just a manager.
- Prepared to work in a 24 hour/ day operation where after-hours events will occur.
- Lead and implement digital transformation and automation to upgrade manufacturing and lower overall operating costs.
- Identify and partner with capable and effective integrators and solutions architects to implement IoT and Industry 4.0 technology.
- Exposure to machine learning algorithms, adaptive troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and RFID technology.
- Knowledge of SCADA, DCS, PLC’s, MES, ERP, QMS, etc.,
- Define, Plan, Implement and Support mobile robotic and logistical and manufacturing automation equipment put in place in Elkay’s facilities, including Process, Financial and Technical analysis.
- Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for a reliable production process that applies LEAN concepts.
- Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation or technology opportunities and system integration for equipment and tooling.
- Optimize complex robotics and automation equipment and processes for safety, ergonomics, quality, flow, reliability, and maintainability.
- Integrate conveyors, material handling systems, that link manufacturing and people.
Required Experience and Skills Include
- Collaborative or Mobile Robots AGV / AMR / VGV experience including support, programming and deployment experience.
- Experience with shop floor layouts, LEAN methodologies and material replenishment.
- CAD software (AutoCAD / SolidWorks).
- Must be a great teammate and comfortably work with people at all levels of our organization.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing maintenance/engineering.
- Working knowledge of LEAN.
- Project management experience.
- Root cause analysis, problem solving, and preventive action methods
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
