Our Talent and Performance Management (TM/PM) team is on a mission to bring our differentiated people vision to all talent management solutions and create a simpler, more empowering, transparent and inclusive experience for all associates. We are simultaneously supporting philosophy and intent for existing performance and talent management processes across the enterprise and delivering on an ambitious innovation agenda.
The Philosophy and Intent team is responsible for ensuring our talent and performance management strategy will deliver on our business and talent goals today and in the future. Our goal is to leverage internal and external research and benchmarking to define intent that will drive the outcomes we seek for associates and our company. We are looking for a talented human capital expert who is passionate about shaping the future vision of talent and performance management at Capital One.
As a Manager on the Philosophy and Intent team, you will leverage your expertise to deliver innovative talent and performance strategies to support our shared business goals. With an emphasis on consulting and research, you'll support the design and implementation of TM/PM products, processes, and practices to help ensure Capital One has an industry-leading human capital approach across the associate life-cycle.
Our ideal candidate will display a strong balance of problem solving and influence skills, business consulting, and communication competencies, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Work across teams and stakeholders to play a leading role in the evolution of talent and performance management at Capital One
  • Leverage existing research and data or help lead new research efforts to support the development of data-backed plans for our talent and performance management products and processes
  • Lead management and delivery of initiatives and projects with enterprise-wide impact
  • Build subject matter expertise across talent and performance management domains, as well as Capital One HR products, programs, and processes
  • Help identify key opportunities within our talent and performance management processes
  • Develop presentations or materials that can be consumed by a variety of audiences, including senior leaders
  • Proactively partner with colleagues in LOB HR, Product, Design and other partner teams to support alignment of strategies and process elements for day-to-day activities the team manages
  • Support TM/PM philosophy viewpoints in various forums, such as trainings and office hours or written Q&A

  • Execution: Strong organizational skills and follow-through. You've got an excellent "system" for managing a full pipeline of work and can support a team in establishing efficient and effective processes.
  • Partnership: Proactive stakeholder management with colleagues across Capital One including: HR, Product, Operations, and others to drive associate experience improvements and business results.
  • Strategic & Analytic orientation: Ability to leverage disparate data sources, including quantitative and qualitative data, to develop summaries and insights that can inform perspectives and decisions.
  • Business communication: Impeccable written and oral communication skills, including strong visualization skills (i.e., able to "tell the story" and highlight key insights in a clear and concise manner that is easily understood by stakeholders at all levels).
  • Results focus: Drives for results and achieves important goals applying strong organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Analysis: Identify opportunities for improvement and use data to make strategic and tactical recommendations


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of client facing experience OR at least 3 years of consulting experience OR a combination
  • At least 3 years of experience in Human Resources


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master's Degree
  • Professional Human Resources Certification or Senior Professional Human Resources certification or coaching certification
  • 6+ years of client facing experience or 6+ years of consulting experience or a combination
  • 4+ years of experience in in Human Resources or Human Capital Consulting

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $126,700 - $144,600 for HR Specialist
Richmond, VA: $115,200 - $131,500 for HR Specialist
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
