Adtran is looking for an experienced Manager and Product Owner to join our team and lead the development of our Mosaic One Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product. This dynamic cloud-based platform aggregates data from multiple management and orchestration systems, broadband access networks, and in-home devices to drive efficient workflows and AI-driven insights for our customers.

As the Manager of the Full-Stack Software Team, you will oversee a talented group of engineers specializing in Python and AWS. Your role will be pivotal in shaping Mosaic One API by defining, designing and leading the implementation efforts of the innovative cloud-based API layer exposed to the Adtran’s customers – Internet Service Providers. The API layer will provide the monitoring, observability and management domains for integration with the wide variety of visualization and management tools used by our customers. You will ensure that our product meets the highest standards and fulfills customer needs, all while guiding the team's professional growth and development.

Manager of Software: Key Responsibilities

People & Team Management

• Hiring, mentoring, and coaching software engineers across different experience levels.

• Driving a high-performance engineering culture focused on quality, innovation, and ownership.

• Managing distributed and cross-functional development teams.

• Conducting performance reviews, setting career development goals, and fostering team growth.

• Promoting collaboration between developers, DevOps, product, and business stakeholders.

Strategic & Business Alignment

• Aligning engineering efforts with business goals, revenue impact, and customer needs.

• Defining technical roadmaps and influencing architectural decisions.

• Managing budgets, cloud cost optimization, and resource planning.

• Collaborating with product, sales, and customer support to ensure successful API adoption.

• Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape.

Product Owner: Key Responsibilities

Product & Backlog Management

• Define and manage the product backlog, ensuring clarity and prioritization of user stories.

• Write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements.

• Continuously refine backlog items based on stakeholder feedback and technical feasibility.

• Prioritize development work based on business value, customer needs, and technical dependencies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Act as the primary bridge between business teams, development teams, and external ISP partners.

• Gather requirements from ISPs, internal teams, and customers to align product development with business goals.

• Collaborate with DevOps, and backend engineers to ensure API usability and efficiency.

• Provide regular updates to leadership, sales, and marketing on product progress and roadmap.

API & Cloud Platform Strategy

• Define API capabilities, endpoints, and data models in collaboration with architects and engineers.

• Ensure APIs follow industry best practices in scalability, security, and performance.

• Oversee cloud infrastructure decisions related to AWS services like API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, and IAM.

• Advocate for automation, CI/CD best practices, and infrastructure-as-code in API deployments.

Agile & Development Process

• Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups with the development team.

• Participate in sprint demos, retrospectives, and release planning.

• Ensure the team follows agile best practices and continuously improves its processes.

Business & Customer Focus

• Define KPIs to measure API performance, adoption, and business impact.

• Drive API monetization strategies, including subscription models, licensing, or usage-based billing.

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and ISP-specific requirements.

• Support customer onboarding by providing documentation and API best practices.

Security & Performance Oversight

• Work with DevOps and security teams to enforce API security standards (OAuth, JWT, rate limiting).

• Monitor API performance and drive optimizations based on real-world usage and feedback.

• Ensure high availability, failover strategies, and observability using AWS tools (CloudWatch, ELK, etc.).

Market & Competitive Analysis

• Stay updated on industry trends, telecom API standards, and emerging technologies.

• Conduct competitor analysis to identify gaps and opportunities for differentiation.

• Gather customer feedback and usage data to iterate on API features and improvements.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in full-stack development, cloud architecture, or related fields.

• 5+ years in a management role, including leadership of software development teams.

• Hands-on experience in AWS Services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, IAM, SNS/SQS, VPC, Route 53

• API Design & Management skills, including but not limited to RESTful APIs, WebSockets, OAuth, API versioning, security best practices

• Expertise in observability & performance, including Monitoring, logging, tracing (CloudWatch, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins.

• Expertise in AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, S3, DynamoDB.

• Understanding of cloud-native architectures and security practices.

• Strong communication, coordination and team building skills.

• Readiness to work with teams working in different time zones, especially in US Central Time.

Preferred Qualifications

As an addition to all the basic qualifications.

• Understanding of Security Best Practices - IAM, encryption, API security (OAuth, JWT, rate limiting, WAF, etc.)

• Experience in SaaS product development and delivering large-scale applications.

• Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies like SAFe.
