We’re looking for a dynamic Software Engineering Manager to lead an outstanding engineering team. The successful candidate will have a strong management and technical background, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering projects in a growth mode environment.

Development projects include overseeing the development of Ancestry’s logged-in home page, integrating with multiple high profile data sources, providing visual support for site-wide notifications, and building with the latest web-based technologies.

What you will do:

• Work with product management to understand the business goals for each software release

• Manage an outstanding team of software engineers (including offshore engineers) delivering new functionality, updates, and maintenance releases

• Continuously coordinate with web design, product management, engineering operations, and QA, engaging teams at the appropriate times

• Anticipate project blockers and help form remediation plans (before the project and delivery timelines suffer)

• Provide hands-on help in architecting, designing, implementing, deploying, and documenting software applications and services

• Help establish quality methodologies, metrics, and standards to track and improve the engineering productivity

• Mentor and recruit top talent for the engineering team.

Who you are:

• 10+ years of professional experience in software development

• 3+ years managing development teams and projects

• Experience and ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced product environment

• History of successfully delivering continuous software releases using Agile development methodologies (such as Scrum)

• Ability to delve into a technical problem and drive the solution personally if the need arises

• Experience working in a distributed development environment with engineers, product management, and QA in other geographies

• Working knowledge of common Web Technologies such as NodeJS, React, JavaScript, XSLTs, and Open Source

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, Master’s degree is a plus

We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position: $139,230 - $174,060 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision. The actual salary will vary by geographic region and job experience. We will share detailed compensation data for a specific location during the recruiting process.
