Job Summary:

Under general direction, the Manager II, Application Development leads multiple teams or a larger, more complex team within the technology organization. This role requires both technical expertise and strategic management skills to ensure the successful delivery of projects and alignment with business objectives. The Manager II will provide leadership, manage resources, optimize processes, and drive innovation within the team, while also collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads, manages, and develops a mid/large team of Software Engineers and oversees the Agile process as a People Manager
  • Builds relationships and collaborates inter-department stakeholders to support team effectiveness
  • Ensures team adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards by coaching employees in required practices or applying corrective actions
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to team members. Focus on developing technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and career growth within the teams.
  • Conducts regular check-ins with team members to provide feedback, discuss goal progress and address any performance-related issues promptly and professionally
  • Tracks team performance and goal progress by KPIs established by leadership. Use data-driven insights to drive improvements, remove barriers, and achieve performance goals.
  • Participates in the budgeting process in the technology department, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and within financial constraints.
  • Contributes to and influences technical decisions for teams
  • Addresses issues or blockers on routine problems with guidance from leadership. When necessary, escalates to senior leadership, clearly articulating the issues and risks.
  • Monitors progress of assigned projects and tasks, ensuring that timelines and milestones are met. Proactively addresses roadblocks or delays. Delivers regular updates to internal stakeholders and leadership regarding project status, potential risks, and mitigation strategies by setting realistic expectations through transparent communication.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders by evaluating results in order to ensure that expected outcomes are occurring and business objectives are being met
  • Manages high-priority incidents, providing swift and effective solutions while maintaining open lines of communication with stakeholders and leadership.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration/Management, Information Technology, or related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience, and training WITH at least 2 years of experience in an Engineering and Technology role AND WITH at least 1 year of experience managing a team, or 4 years of experience in an Engineering and Technology role WITH at least 1 year of experience managing a team

AND/OR Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:

  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
  • Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
  • Knowledge of and experience with methodologies, tools, and techniques for managing software products at all stages of the product lifecycle
  • Knowledge of techniques to successfully effect change in an organization and ability to manage the successful and smooth transition from current to desired culture, practices, structure, and overall organizational environment
  • Knowledge of successful performance management techniques and ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Knowledge of available internal and external learning resources and ability to address learning, training, and career development needs of individuals, teams or organization.
  • Knowledge of the talent acquisition process and ability to participate in the process of recruitment of permanent and contract personnel, achieving optimal match between candidate and position.
  • Knowledge of techniques to successfully effect change in an organization and ability to manage the successful and smooth transition from current to desired culture, practices, structure, and overall organizational environment.
  • Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience and training WITH 5 years of Engineering and Technology experience WITH at least 2 years of experience managing an Engineering and Technology team
  • Experience with Application Development in an Agile environment

  • Experience with Azure and/or Jira

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.  This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.

The Company offers the following benefits for full-time positions, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, as may be in effect from time to time: medical benefit, dental benefit, vision benefit, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, paid time off commensurate with tenure (includes vacation and sick time), six weeks of paid maternity leave along with two weeks of paid parental leave, and six paid holidays annually.
