What you will do – Essential responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of HR investigators to ensure thorough and effective investigations are conducted.
- Review and analyze investigation reports, providing feedback to team members to enhance performance and outcomes.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure investigations comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement investigation policies and procedures to improve efficiency and clarity.
- Train team members on investigation techniques, best practices, and relevant policies.
- Monitor and report on daily workflow, team resources, investigation metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Serve as lead investigator for complex or sensitive employee relations issues that require escalated attention such as cases that involve sexual harassment, retaliation, discrimination and conflicts of interest.
- Regularly partner with Legal, Asset Protection, Associate Relations, Compliance and Ethics, and other key stakeholders to make fact-based recommendations (i.e., performance management, employment decisions, etc.) to leadership teams including Regional and Corporate executives.
- Complete all case management responsibilities for assigned cases such as creation of supporting performance management, case notes, investigation summaries and proper case management and disposition in CarMax’s case management system.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Five or more years of Human Resources or comparable experience, including investigation or case management experience.
- Prior team management experience and/or completion of MDP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office systems, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships throughout the organization.
- Ability to gain buy-in from others, including leaders.
- Ability to use all available resources and partner with others to understand problems at the root-cause level.
- Ability to analyze variety of data points, using the information gathered to make sound decisions.
- Ability to adapt communication to the audience; uses active listening skills; writes clearly and succinctly.
- Ability to hold self to high standard of internal customer service and decorum.
- Ability to develop, execute and adjust a plan with high degree of independence.
