The Investment Reporting and Analysis Group within External Reporting is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial results for the investment portfolio of PFI and its subsidiaries. Among its many responsibilities, the Group completes the quarterly/annual GAAP investment disclosures in external filings such as the investment footnotes (PFI and stand-alone entities), Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS). In addition to reporting for external constituents, the Group contributes to management reporting packages including earnings call preparedness materials and provides other investment-related support to various Corporate areas and Business partners. In doing so, the Group interacts and collaborates with colleagues within the department and across the organization.
The Manager, Financial Reporting would primarily be responsible for leading and developing a team of one Finance associate along with interaction and oversight of a team of off-shore partners, including one US direct managed off-shore resource while managing the completion of reporting outputs. The successful candidate will be expected to ensure the team produces timely, accurate and reliable financial information; develop expertise in investment accounting and reporting; develop collaborative relationships with key internal partners and be fully knowledgeable of all aspects of the team’s day-to-day operations. This role requires utilizing financial applications (Oracle general ledger, Enterprise Financial Data Warehouse (EFDW), GAAP Supplementals) to generate investment data and oversee the completion and review of all aspects of the team’s processes and deliverables including, but not limited to:
Here is what you can expect on a typical day:
• GAAP investment disclosures (footnotes and XBRL tagging, MD&A, QFS) for PFI and Non-Accelerated Filers SEC filings (Form 10-Q and 10-K)
• GAAP investment footnote disclosures for several Prudential Insurance entities
• eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tags for interactive financial statement data for SEC filings
• Investment data for Investor Relations (Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS) and ad-hoc as requested)
• Investment portfolio analysis for business partners and Senior Management
• Information requests from the Chief Investment Officer Organization, Enterprise Risk Management and various other business partners (standard, ad-hoc)
• Coordination with control partners and external auditors during review processes
• Implementation of new investment related accounting guidance
• Identification and implementation of process enhancements and efficiencies
The skills you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree or designation (MBA, CPA) a plus
- 7+ years relevant work experience; experience in financial services or an accounting/financial reporting role preferred
- Self-motivated, engaged and proactive; highly organized and detail-oriented
- Analytical, conceptual and critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to apply critical judgement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively to accomplish shared objectives
- Management experience with leadership abilities
- Able to effectively prioritize and manage a workload in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
- Experience with financial reporting applications (Oracle general ledger, EFDW, Smartview) a plus
- Experience with Workiva and XBRL tagging a plus
- Knowledge of technical accounting principles and GAAP reporting requirements
- Knowledge of investment products a plus
- Overtime required during peak reporting cycles
What we offer you:Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $118,700.00 to $176,600.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
